I reckon if there was someone storming in at the back post it'd be given, but the fact there was no one there meant the ref didn't see it as preventing anything for us, so didn't give it. Obviously frustrating as by the letter of the law it should have been a pen.
Perhaps another upturn.... But with injuries to two of our most influential players Cook and Chair. It might be a hard January. But boy could we use a goal scorer
Positives: clean sheet, improved performance, point gained. Negatives: no real goal chances, Chair injured, still no idea where goals will come from.
From West London Sport: “Chris Willock, whose fitness has been an issue, was replaced at that point by Smyth. “It’s tricky to keep players warm,” Cifuentes explained. “Chrissy Willock has been on the edge today and we tried to push him and in the end, after all the delay, after the warm-up he felt he was not ready.” Hmmmm. The exit door seems well ajar for Willock, and clearly more important than winning for us.
Just got back. A good point of course but another huge missed opportunity. You just know we won’t follow it up against a very beatable Cardiff. All the ingredients of a decent Championship team are there when the best players are fit except the obvious one. Even Dozzell looked up for it. Will check out the highlights but the handball looked blatant. The Smyth penalty shout looked like he was looking for it. Given the circumstances to take 1700 there was remarkable and it was the best away crowd I’ve been in for a long time. Whoever came up with “sit down if you’ve ****ed your mum” is quite the lyricist.
**** sake just saw the handball and the ref is looking right at it. The same ref who sent Begovic off at Leeds for being within six feet of Bamford.
It was quite good. Not brilliant but quite good. We took one competent corner for a start. Even passed the ball in their half a bit.
Please stop torturing me, I like a bit of meat with me tatties but I’m on a calorie controlled diet, please find something a lot slimmer
7 points off 5th from bottom. Our inability to score goals will see us go down unless we strike it lucky with a loan deal in January.
I knew we were struggling but was surprised at one goal in our last five games. The problem is clear for all to see; you imagine Marti is ‘on it’ but what leeway there is God knows. Also our waste of the ball at crosses is very poor, a lot of good work down the wings last night but still poor balls from play and set pieces. I’ve held off saying it but I think it’s time for Dykes to move on and get a replacement. Running around and working hard is a reasonable attribute - but not for a striker who’s not scoring. Just 20 goals all season, we need a change of striker and we need it soon. Not easy in our financial situation I know but this is dire.
Sadly agree about Dykes. We seem to be basing our play around his style of play, which is fine if he's scoring, but he's not. I'd like to see Kelman or Armstrong given a run to try something new and see how it works out.
Kelman perhaps, though I’m assuming we don’t see more of him or Kolli because they are not good enough (I’ll add a hopeful) yet. Armstrong has had 35 appearances for his solitary tap in. No weeping from me if the rumours that he is leaving are true. Likewise Dunne. What happened to Morgan Fox?
Marti said Fox will be available for Cardiff. No updates on yesterdays injuries but Colback is still out
The window opens soon I think? Has to be a striker coming in from some team we've never heard of who will provide the edge we need Well that's what I'm hoping for A good point I feel but both Wednesday and the Millers on fire too What odds on the current bottom 3 surviving and WRBC going down?
Think they’ll bin him soon unfortunately but they’re way ahead of us anyway. Not impossible but feel it’s three from four. Stoke will do enough and Plymouth are showing fight despite losing the manager and score plenty. Thought Millwall were nailed on to keep dropping until we gifted them a win and they’ve followed it up. Blackburn in freefall but need a QPR-esque collapse to be in contention. January is our chance. A run of winnable home games. We’ll **** it up.
