Mahoney (although Williams was playing well Mahoney changed the game) Ehmer (solid) Malone (brilliant goal)
When we are not playing it backwards, we are playing it sideways and oh boy is that frustrating, we sort of get to the edge of the oppositions box and run out of ideas. Coleman has the intelligence to get something going but then does not get the return ball or it's as if he has magically disappeared into thin air...he also looks as though he is trying to organise, but as much as he takes the horse to water he can't get it to drink it. We need more strength, we've forgotten this is L2, we need more brute force, I see Ogie hovering and you can tell he wants to have a go, like a Shire horse ploughing a path through to goal - well if it's frustrating to the fans it also has to be frustrating to the defenders to watch, someone get in box for heavens sake. Do we have a striker, hmmm, if there is one, I'm not seeing it. Thankfully we had supersub Malone, what a cracker of a goal. gio is right Mahoney changed the game, well someone had to, we were running out of options, I do hope in the January window we can get someone who can find the net, please, I'll even take Cody McDonald back, well if Ronaldo can still play at that age why can't he, a good old fashioned goal poacher ... 1. Mahoney 2. Malone 3. Coleman Tbph I wasn't really sure of my top three, my mind is so numb right now. A good batch of individuals, but as a team it's just not clicking, something has to change.
This is for the almost 1000 fewer Gills 'fans' than attended the Crawley game https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...ngham-1-0-sutton-united-league-two-highlights
Rolling the dice......... or playing 'craps' again. (( technically, I have not used a rude word. )) I have to agree with what brb said ! 1.Mahoney 2. Masterson 3. Ehmer I welcome a win - but - against a 'bottom' club with 10 men for 75% of the game, it wasn't great. The negativity was still excruciating... This has become so ingrained - that the players hardly seem capable of passing and moving with any speed....hence the opposition (( even with 10 )), can get into position to prevent forward motion.... and the level of performance ends up being described as another sort of ' motion. '
I found it very hard to select a top three, so understand everyones choices. I just don't know what is going to make this team click, it's as if there is an invisible forcefield around the penalty box - one must not pass (I can keep this black knight sketch going). Maybe it's because Sutton put 10 men in the box and this is where we need to be a bit more savvy to draw them out; although I don't think that is the actual problem with the team, I hate to say it but it's as if we are missing a big target man to create space and bring the ball down for our strikers (hastening to add I hate hoofball, but if needs must), but why are we not hassling the opposition keeper more. As you can tell I'm no tactician, but someone must be able to identify the problem, 90 mins of possession with no end product is worthless energy, although in fairness it bought us 3 points last night, so on this ocassion in a funny way it did work lol...
