Sky Sports News understands Forest Green Rovers are set to part company with head coach David Horseman Player-coach Troy Deeney has been lined up as a replacement on a permanent basis
It seems that Troy is not universally liked, judging by some of the comments on the BBC website about his appointment at FGR. He will do well if he can turn their season around, but to say he will fail before he has been tried seems rather harsh. Maybe there is some truth in Mme's comment. "He is the wrong colour".
At least he avoided defeat in his first match in charge, a 0-0 draw with Gillingham. Has his work cut out though - FGR probably the best side in the first half but wilted a fair bit in the second.
Chris Wilder will have mixed feelings about SU draw at Villa which is a very good result but so close to 3.
Blimey - Coventry boss Mark Robins praised Ashley Fletcher after his side beat Sheff Wed 2-0. I'll bet that hasn't happened for a few years... https://www.sheffieldwednesday.news...-wednesday-players-including-ashley-fletcher/
Two ex Hornets giving Spuds a lesson at Brighton - Pedro (2) & Estupinan with three of Brighton's four goals.
A penalty in added time for Salford denied Deeney his first win as a manager. A minute before the penalty made the score 2-2, Mariappa and a FGR player were both given their marching orders. Estupinan and Pedro (2) continued hitting the back of the net for Brighton, scoring three of their four goals against Stoke.
Troy certainly let his players know how he feels ! https://www.newschainonline.com/spo...-players-babies-after-harrogate-defeat-379794
They mostly deserved the hairdryer treatment - played an awful game. Two of his three new signings played - a goalkeeper who had a bit of a stinker and a midfielder who got himself sent off. He really has his work cut out to save them from relegation to the National League if they carry on playing like that. Funny thing is that, although they haven't won since Troy took over, they had improved a lot on the pitch under him.
They have needed a kick up the backside since they won promotion. I think they lost a few games after promotion was gained and only just. held on to the title VI has done the same but only identified the problem players by dropping them, he did not need to publish the names because we all knew who they were
He sent the team captain home, and dropped him, after he turned up late for training twice - very much in the style of VI.
