Surely we have the best midfield in the EPL?

Ozil is the best piece of business in recent years for me.

  2. VDV wasn't a bad bit of business, either. Especially considering the goals he's scored.

Someone on the BBC made a comment that our entire midfield cost £40 million.

When you think of the obscene sums that both Liverpool and Chelsea have spent trying to buy success, it's great to know that true footballing values are being born out by the mighty Spurs <ok>

Surely, we are the neutral's favourite for success this season?

The midfiled is amazing no doubt but I just love the way we play in general. When you have full backs like Benny and Walker who attack more than most other teams wingers it provides fantastic entertainment and brilliant attacking football which is what Premier League football SHOULD be about.

Keep it up boys, you're doing us proud!

I'd agree with that. I've often rattled on about balance on here before. Up to last season's advent of Sandro, we lacked it. Now with Sandro, and obviously, Parker, as the missing pieces of the jigsaw firmly in place, we look far more resilient.

Congrats on the win last night guys.

From a United fans perspective I'd put your midfield right up there with the best of them in this league. I think City have more overall, especially with Silva being in my opinion the best in the league on his current form but most of your midfield players are top 4 material and for that reason, you simply have to qualify for the ECL this season and even that may not be enough.

Modric wants to play CL football, but giving him CL football may not be enough for Spurs as I think when players say this they mean they want to play for a team with a chance of winning the Champions League, otherwise they could just sign for Celtic. With all due respect, you're nowhere near the level to challenge for that trophy because you are lacking fire power and a world class defensive unit when compared to the elite of Europe.

I think any United fan would love Modric in their side, even more so than Bale but it's obvious he doesn't want to play for United as he was pining for a move to Chelsea in the summer, so I hope he stays with you guys.

On a side note, I'd like to see more of Huddlestone because that guy has a cracking shot on him. I know Parker is playing out of his skin most games but from a neutral point of view, Huddlestone is more entertaining, especially when a stray clearance lands just outside the box and you're waiting for him to appear in the picture.

As a City fan I'd like to say that along with us you are playing the best football to watch, great movement in midfield as we have, I think we edge it up front though, would love to see us finish 1st and 2nd, good luck for rest of season.

After so many years of mediocre teams and players I cannot believe how good our team is now!!

Absolutely perfect balance and we are so strong in every position!

Me too - although we may differ about the order! Feeling faint just at the thought of finishing second. Will probably die if we actually win the thing. If so, will give up following Spurs, cause nothing would ever match that feeling, and everything after would be a disappointment.

Agree with that, you have that extra edge in firepower and also a superior squad, which is key in a long season.

City are the best team without a doubt, but there's a wonderful buzz to watching Spurs, made warmer by the way we've done it by spending within our limits. We actually made a profit last financial year!

We still may not make top 4, because we have key players like Adebayor that we don't have sufficient cover for. Stick Pav in that team instead of him, or even Defoe, and almost certainly our performances will suffer. Also, we have decades of inferiority to Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea to overcome psycholoically.

Harry knows it will be a tremendous achievement just to get 4th, it would be even better than last time, because of City's emergence as a super power.

I think JD could do a job for us this year. If City and Barca can play without a big centre forward (or any centre forward sometimes) then we could utilise JDs pace and knock a few in. He looks in good form this year.

Possibly HD, but I don't think it would work with him and VDV as our main 'strikers'. I think they'd get swamped the way Keane and JD used to get overpowered.

It also means the team is getting even shorter, which is a big worry for us in defending and attacking set-pieces. The only goals we've conceded of late have been from set pieces, Ade is a help for us there, JD wouldn't be.

You have to go back over a month now, AFAIK, for the last time we conceded in open play, it's an incredible record, and Ade with his work in running, chasing, defending gives us a physical edge that JD wouldn't have.

Though JD rather than Pav, I agree!

I've waited over 50 years for us to win it. I'm more worried I'll die BEFORE I see us win it again <laugh>

" don't think any Spurs fans really believe that we've got a real shot at the league. " No. But an alternate scenario to a desperate fight for fourth is beginning to appear in my mind, one in which we're fighting for third, and maybe even pushing for second. It's a good point about how Spurs aren't just blowing the doors off teams like City. On the other hand, I really like how this team is set up to beat teams parking the bus.

As to midfield: I'd go with : "As a City fan I'd like to say that along with us you are playing the best football to watch, great movement in midfield as we have, I think we edge it up front though, would love to see us finish 1st and 2nd, good luck for rest of season."

Spurs really do have pretty good depth, but not compared to City.
