How to solve our striker crisis in January?

Shankland left the UK to a decent league and flopped, plus he has been linked to Wrexham over the last few days is that who we should be rivalling for signings?

    Maja has barely played.

Nisbett would've been a terrible signing. He offers nothing in terms of build up play and Millwall actually cross the ball unlike us, and yet he's still only scored a handful of goals and is in and out of the team.

Plus, Shankland and Nisbett did not have this mythical 'championship experience' and the scottish league, Ukrainian league and Ligue 2 are probably on the same level so they both would've been the exact same risk as Rusyn and Mayenda.

Yep,good post, not sure we were doomed to fail, but, signing young foreign lads is always a risk I suppose, which hasn't worked out for us.
Let's see what they do in January.

Weve signed 4 new strikers and after starting the season with Burstow, not one can get in our starting 11, from Mogga to Dodds for his 2 games in charge and now Beale.
Weve signed 3 kids that need loaning out ideally, and the other should never have signed(Burstow).
We are desperate for experience upfront so any of them strikers would be an improvement imo and the other 3 would have had more time to adapt instead of being thrown in the deep end. What were seeing now having zero goals from a striker in December is no suprise at all really. We did not learn from last season when we lost Stewart. Replacing him should have been a priority in the summer.

On a side note, had you heard of Stewart before we signed him from Ross County? Whos to say Shankland wouldnt do a job in this league. He looks like a natural goalscorer from what ive seen of him.

This goes exactly against the point you are making though. Stewart had no english football experience and also didn't exactly set the world alight when he first joined until we made him the starting striker and gave him consistent minutes which proves my point that you need to be patient and actually play the players you bring in, not give them 200 minutes across 4 months and then replace them.

Replacing Stewart should've been the priority? He left on the last day of the window? You aren't making sense.

Seriously name some experienced available championship strikers who are good enough and fit the system. THEY DO NOT EXIST.

I’d like us to coach Hemir up to be a ‘bastard’

One of them that might only get 8-10 a season but they batter folk and people hate playing g against them, bit like the Luton pair last season.

Back in , elbows, bully people. He is physically a monster but doesn’t know how to use it as a play.

Stewart was always going to be out till at least October so yes replacing him should have been a priority whether he stayed or not.
Stewart had experience playing first team football in this country, just like Shankland has for example. Your saying Shankland would be a flop, im saying you cant say that but at least hed adapt alot quicker than Hemir- Benfica B, Mayenda- Sochaux B, Burstow- Chelsea U23s and Rusyn who looks more of a winger and cant speak a word of English.

He needs to give a toss before we can do that instead of looking so disinterested

Thing is mate might be the magic ticket. Benfica won’t have shown him that he might love it and might be making of him.

Those kinda strikers are always worth a shirt.

Can people also stop saying players can’t step up, we all know about Vardy but even more recent there’s a certain Ollie Watkins. Brentford got him for Exeter. Toney, Northampton then Peterborough.

Theres plenty have made the leap.

I just hope hes not looking at us like a step down from such a big club playing in a hot climate.
His body language looks totally wrong to me and then theres the rumours he turns up late for training

Could just be young kid attitude though mate and that’s easily turned.

I was always off work when I was 18-24 I can’t slate him for that <laugh>

Promise of some cans and seeing some tits and I was away.

Oh aye, jokes aside I was selling double glazing like.

The lad showed enough in pre season that we know there’s a player there, for him to step forward.

He went to Belgium and had 1 bad season but still managed 5 goals in a strange country/language barrier issues. Im sure that was a learning curve for him.

His goalscoring record other than that 1 poor season is ridiculously good.

Rusyn has one goal contribution in 286 minutes.

Billy Sharp had 3 goal contributions in 1462 minutes in the championship last season.

Sharp contributed less than what Rusyn has when you adjust for minutes played.

    PLAY RUSYN.

Can I just throw it in here that Rusyn isn't an inexperienced 'kid'. The lad is 25 so has been around long enough and gained decent experience, playing European football etc.

I agree, but hes never played in England before and doesnt speak the language so that makes him inexperienced still.
I have no idea why not one of our 3 coaches this season have started him but like you say hes 25, so theres obviously some reason why 18 year old Jobe plays infront of him when hes not even a striker

Yeah I get what you're saying mate, but he's not being given a chance. The few times I've seen him, I thought he looked lively and done well enough. I think we would all agree we would have started him over Dack against Hull and he would have been an ideal replacement when Dack went off injured. Adil came on and did well and we won so it's a moot point now but it's still a strange one for me why we're not seeing more of him.

I know mate im at a complete loss why players like Dack are starting ahead of him and i dread to think how it must be affecting his confidence
