He had half the pitch though Go watch it. 0:55 on the extended highlights vid. Then come back and tell me that's good defending.
I was talking about other instances when Manning was near the centre circle As Magic said the issue in the end here was more no-one marking Lowe on the far post As to where Manning should have been there are obvs two schools of thought on that
From a coaching perspective, he is in the wrong place. The ball is pinged to the right from just left of central on the pitch. As the ball comes across it is Manning’a job to crab to his left and begin reducing the space for the winger. When the ball is received the winger has too much room to set himself and pick a cross. That is nobody’s tactic ever.
Is it Manning’s turn to have his playing style forensically dissected? Now that Baz has become the best keeper on the planet, we need another Saints player to be shredded. Every player is caught out at times by changes in the game.I bet Le Tiss is glad he didn’t play in the era of social media. Didn’t run, didn’t tackle, didn’t track back, didn’t double up, didn’t break sweat. Total waste of space. # Holier than thou.
Hold on. Pointing out a recurring error - one we saw as far back as the opening game of the season - is shredding someone? I mean that is taking thin skin to a whole new level.
We all have opinions on players. I think Russell knows how he wants Manning to play. He brought him from Swansea after 3 years. I assume he is playing to the way the manager is happy with. Fans opinions do not dictate team selection or tactics. We all think we are tactical geniuses, but we are just that, fans.
But Russ regularly posts on this board, and always reads everyone's comments, just to be sure that he's doing the right thing. Probably.
I am Russell Martin or am I Spartacus? At my age I can’t always be sure. Pretty sure I’m not a football manager or a gladiator.
Pretty y Pretty anonymous then, just what did he do? Of course, just remember him now!!!! Just too good to play for England regularly wasn't he?
I don’t take back my criticism of Bazunu last season. He is the main reason we went down imo. It was crazy to stick with him. Howevrr I am very happy to see his improvement this year so far
Poster 1 gives his opinion and criticises the team/player/manager. Poster 2 expresses his opinion by criticising poster 1 for criticising team/player/manager. Poster 1 points out that in his opinion his criticism of team/player/manager was justified and criticises poster 2 for criticising his criticism of team/player/manager. Poster 2 agrees that everyone has opinions but that poster 1 was unqualified to post his opinion in the first place, in his opinion. Poster 1 then opines that no one should now give their opinion if it criticises player/team/manager because it will just lead to criticism from other posters. There is one way to deal with this unending opinion/criticism circle. Give your opinion and if someone criticises your right to criticise, tell them to **** off. And I think that's one thing we can all agree on, in my opinion.
Very unfair to place most of the blame on one man for what happened last season*. He did not have a settled defence in front of him last season. *Unless it's Nathan Jones
Disagree. Once confidence goes, that’s it. You can’t get it back. And the big reason we conceded tonnes of goals was because we had a kid in goal. I would never blame one man, obviously, but he is a colossal part of it. That said, redemption will be sweet if he turns into a fantastic keeper and I hope he remembers how the club stuck by him before looking for a transfer away.
He was facing a baptism of fire. I genuinely think even Alisson would have struggled if he was our keeper last season. I love that Martin completely shot down the fan who asked whether Bazunu was the right choice as keeper at the fans forum earlier in the year. Now he's not being peppered with shots every 5 minutes he's a lot more confident and relaxed in goal.
I mean I completely disagree with this too. A good keeper would have made a massive difference. However, I don’t blame baz. It’s the clubs fault for playing a youngster no matter how badly he did
