Wouldn’t laugh one bit, proper goal scorer.

We were linked a few year back when he first went up to SPL I’m sure.

If he grafts , he will get the time he needs. You know as well as I do, there are so many young players who are willing to run through walls , and Hemir isn't. He will cut himself out of he doesn't change his tune.

I think potentially yes, it is too big a jump. Obviously depends on the player, and to an extent the type of football he is used to playing. Wouldnt be against signing players like that at all in a summer window where they can have a pre season with players at this level. I think the championship is a really tough league to adapt to as it is invariably quicker, more physical and so competitive. I think Rusyn said not long after he signed he was surprised at the level of our squad and we would be competing to win the Ukrainian league. I think that shows the level the championship is now.

The last two games I'v seen him in, (admittedly only on TV) he has looked transformed and is now showing that pre season form again, I think Murty might take some credit here, and if Beale can replicate Murty's influence, we might just have solved our CF problem , I would also like to see Emil, Bennette or Rusyn pushing Roberts more for the right wing spot some time soon, as I think its been our real weakness all season, clutching straws is what we all do on here. <ok>

You don’t sign a 6’4 lump of a striker to run around like a headless chicken pressing. As long as he’s making runs to occupy the defence and push the defensive line back we’ll be a better team and he looked to be trying to do that against Ipswich but he was being ignored.

Haaland averages about 20 touches a game, 12 passes and runs the least of any of City’s Xl. We normally dominate the ball and have a defensive line that’s much higher than most teams so I’m not sure how necessary it is for him to waste his energy aimlessly pressing.

Basic statistical chance? If any of those recommendations were to convert a single chance at any point during the remainder of the season they'd immediately outdo what our current lot have done.

You could say that about most players to fit an argument though. If we signed a new keeper and he conceded less than Patterson in the second half of the season he’s outdone him. Bennette has outdone Roberts by registering the same amount of assists in just 8 minutes.

If one of our strikers was thrown in at the start of the season and had played 20+ games average at least an hour a game then I’d agree but they can’t score if they don’t play.

Rusyn and Roberts have the exact same amount of goal contributions yet one of them has played over 1000 minutes and the other under 300.

Different players playing in different positions of course. A winger will always see more of the ball than a striker. Ba v Roberts would be a fairer comparison

Ba has 3x as many goal involvements as Roberts I didn’t want to make it unfair :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I agree was just trying to make the point that a player coming in and contributing doesn't necessarily make them a better player

I know we haven't had a forward for most of the season for him to provide for but that is so poor for a player of his ability.

I think the problem with Hemir is that he was given the no.9 shirt and bigged up by the club's social media when he is (or should have been) a signing for the u21 team and been nowhere near the 1st team.

If what @Prehab26 is saying is true (and i've heard similar) and his attitude is wrong then he's got no future here

His xG this season is the same as Ballards… his G+A per 90 is 0.06 - Hume is 0.08 and Ballard is 0.13.

Whether we’ve had a striker or not that’s piss poor. Of all championship wingers/inside forwards who’ve played regularly this season that has to be in the bottom 3% and that’s being conservative.

I'm pretty sure the recruitment people will have been **** hot looking at strikers in front of the January window, given they haven't got it quite right.
My take on it would be that Burstow would be returned to Chelsea....subject of course to the loan contract. If possible,Hemir would also be moved on and Mayenda would be set for a number of matches in the U21's....looking at next season.
That leaves Rusyn, who I've always thought would be an alternative to Clarke, coming in from the left,if JC was to get injured,or we received an unturndownable offer.
That's what I think they saw in him, rather than a target man. All of which means,I think we can expect an addition in January, who is a little more proven at this level.
No-one wants a Grigg, and no-one wants a 30year old+ journeyman looking to end his career on big bucks....we've already done that....it'll be interesting to see.
If Corey comes back fit and firing on all cylinders,we don't need much else this next month.

Shankland looks good up in Scotland. Maja was going for free also, both with experience playing in the British isles and 1st team football 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.
Just 2 examples from the top of my head who we could have brought in as more experienced strikers.
Millwall signed Nisbett in the summer for around 2m. Theres another striker that would have massively improved us upfront.

Maja has been injured all season and I wouldn’t say Naisbitt scoring in Scotland is any more proven than Rusyn it would’ve been a risk all the same. Plenty have made the jump from the SPL and flopped. It is worrying if the language barrier is the issue though because surely that’s something you plan for when you sign a player that speaks no English.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing we could sit here all day and say we should’ve signed such and such because they’re doing well but they weren’t proven at this level before now.

I agree im jusy saying we were doomed to fail in the goalscoring department bringing in 4 new strikers and only one of them played for the first team of their former clubs, but doesnt speak a word of English, and his strongest position is where Jack Clarke plays by the looks of him.

I like many others hoped we'd have learnt from last season and losing a goalscorer in Stewart and replacing him with a kid (Joffy), doesnt work so i was expecting to see someone come in around the age of 28, in their prime with years of experience in playing first team football

Id have even had Billy Sharp to add experience but hes just signed for Hull. Kieffer Moore was also available and at 6 foot 5 hed have been a big asset up top with our wide men
