Ensil, there's missing and there's missing. Golden opportunities should be taken by an international forward in my opinion. Adebayor is inconsistent as last night and the last 7 matches have proven.

Cheers Ensil, and big respect to da bitch :)

Back to the game, we only needed to win by one to go 3rd.

I thought it was a terrific performance, and Villa were so scared of us they went for a damage limitation exercise.

I think there's some underestimating how brilliant we've been this season. The football we played v Hearts, Liverpool, QPR , Wigan and tonight, was some of the best football we've ever played in our entire history.

Of course sometimes it's brilliance in patches, what team is brilliant non-stop for 90 mins on a regular basis in the Prem, none.

I loved this piece on Villa's attempt to 'park the bus' from a Villa fan. Thought it was really funny.

The goals might not have always been there but the performances have.

He did miss up two big chances but the first goal was rather brilliant, there's not many that score those. What I like about him is that he finds the channels and picks up on where we need him early on in an attack, for example when Lennon tracked back and Villa were trying to put a bit of pressure on us on the ball, he was on the right wing and as soon as he got the ball he made a great run to the corner relieving any pressure immediately.

He's fast, good on the ball and can win headers, I think he's perfectly suited to our game.

That's great insight. I found it frustrating; thinking it wasn't his job to there; what with being the lone striker and all that. But no, you're right, and that makes him an even better player in my eyes.

I remember finding Kanoute very frustrating for the same reason, although we did have 2 upfront. Looking back it really wasn't his fault though, it's understandable given how slow our build ups were back then, that he'd try to find space earlier and the wing is the best place for anyone with a bit of pace to find it.

It's easy to think that Villa made it easy on us and didn't give it a go, which is true to an extent but we also played our part in stifling them and Adebayor's runs were just one of them.

Currently watching the match and what I am loving is the ease and confidence that I haven't seen in decades. Billy Nick would have loved how comfortable each player is on the ball.
Azza looks like he fully fit as he is now back doing what he was doing 2 years ago.
I am now officially proud to be a Spurs supporter.<ok>

I've always been proud to be a Spurs supporter. But it's lovely to watch such a wonderful team in our colours.

Villa didn't make it easy for us, they tried to make it difficult. Had they come out and given us a football game, they know we'd have ripped them apart, hence their defensive set up.

It's true they could have 'got in our faces' a bit more (code for kicking us to bits), and I'm grateful they didn't go down that route. Thankfully due to the improvements in the game brought about by the authorities such as the FA, UEFA and FIFA, it's now more difficult for a team to kick another team out of the game.

I love this piece by a Villa fan BTW

What I meant was that now I can face up to the other fans who regularly take the p-ss out of us.
I've always been a proud suppporter and always hoped we would achieve, but always let down and watch the other big guns win the trophies.
Now I can see that we have a team that can actually win something without compromising our own unique style of football.

Fair comments PL, but I've never had any problems facing up to other fans either. Our great record over the years of winning trophies in the right way, has always given me more than enough ammo to give it back to the piss takers.

I've always had a problem with the 'long-suffering Spurs fans' brigade. Because I've never felt part of that collection, in my 50+ years of following the club, we've consistently been one of the top 10 clubs in the country, putting us in the elite top 10% of professional football in England, not to mention the hundreds of other clubs aspiring to be professional.

    Fair comment GH.
We can both agree that it's never dull being a Spurs supporter.
We have always been a big club who play the right way and that I will never compromise on that.

Even during the Gerry Francis era we had the amusement of predicting who would be injured that week...

Even when Jol was in charge we were playing some of the best football in the league, second only to Arsenal in my opinion, now we are playing great football and getting the right results too. Other than our slight dip in style under Ramos, we have been working towards the current situation for a good 7/8 years, it's great to see such long-term sustainable progress.

    Well said PL <ok>

Even when we got relegated I still loved us, and even that one season in Div 2 was fun and brought about the emergence of probably our best ever 'home-grown' player, Hoddle.

I didn't go, but luckily it was shown on TV (highlights), some game eh?

I remember going to the Bolton game, 50,000+ for a Div 2 game, which crucially we won.

Can't remember now if this was Hoddle's first game.He collected a pass and, onthe turn.smacked a shot a few inches past the goal post.Or was that a cup tieOh memory where are you?
I can remember going to Charlton that season....and losing 4-1!.....and a former Spur scoring 3(?).
This was the season we had a lot of youngsters in our team after the old brigade had departed...with Pat going to Arsenal. That one hurt!!!!!
