I personally think he’s been good for the u21’s and has put a shift in. Particularly in the most recent game when I thought he was our best player. That’s not saying @Prehab26 is wrong, just that I’ve seen it differently.
Hopefully see him kick of and get back in the first team picture next season, big change at that age moving countries etc
He may be, but my point is that he's played more games not as a striker this season than he has as the striker. He'd cost upwards of 15m anyway so he's not relevant to us.
Diaz played over 100 games as a striker vs 69 on the left according to Transfermarkt. Its a error to infer he isn't a striker. Assombalonga scored 2 goals in 174 minutes for Watford last season, finding some wingeing Watford fan on a forum doesn't dispute that data, it does look like he's only get bits and pieces in Turkey so he might need time to reach full fitness, that is a fair concern. Lucas Joao played in all but the last game of the season during the run in, so if you've read that he went AWOL, that's a fake story. Vydra also played extensively as a 9, the vast majority of his career infact, if you feel he had better games as a 10 fair enough, but he is a striker and the question posed is can he offer us something we currently do not have, that will only minimally impact our youth development process. Stansfield is one of the hottest prospects in English football, that's why he is ahead of Hogan.
Assombalonga was always a goal scorer to be fair. Something left field like that just to put a handful of goals from a 9 in the mix could make or break the season.

He has that positional instinct that makes me think he’d get a few goals at higher level. Notts play a hell of a lot of football for there level as well. Here is all 42 goals from last season, all kinds of goals but he is always in the right place.
I said Breretons Diaz best football came as a left forward, not where he played the most games. Go look where he played last season. Assombalonga is not good enough, not fit enough, not got the correct attitude. 'Fake story' coming directly from Noel Hunt who was the Reading caretaker at the time? Vydras most prolific season was the 17/18 season, the last time he actually had a good season, and he was a 10. Stansfield might be that now but he wasn't that at the start of the season, in fact a lot of our fans turned their noses up at him being linked to us.
We've passed the halfway mark for the season, they'd all outdo our current 4 strikers if they signed on January 1st.
Agreed with this, none of those players mentioned are good enough for us. Diaz obviously is quality, its whether he could play as a CF or not - played wide left or in a front 2 for a lot of his time at Blackburn Muniz from fulham would have been my choice, hes getting game time there at the minute but i was told a few weeks ago that he might be available on loan if they bring a forward in Obafemi is another one from a PL team with championship experience. Not a massive fan of his tbh but he is quick and has scored 17 goals across the last 2 championship seasons Chelsea have a young Brazilian called washingston who might be worth a loan deal, swap him with burstow. Hes got 1st team football experience despite only being 18 as played for santos last couple yrs, hes over 6ft so got a bit about him The young Uruguayan (Rodriguez) we have been linked with n the Japanese striker (cant mind his name), both look very good - would be great to sign both. Japanese striker is very busy n holds the line well, he has good experience as well. Rodriguez could be unreal. In terms of hemir, hes clearly a longer term signing and we need to be patient with him - not just cut him as folk have mentioned. A loan deal either now or in the summer would be good, depends if he is developing nicely in training
Not in our set up, that's the problem we have with our striker situation. We are set up to play without one. I honestly believe we already have the answer at the club in Rusyn and Mayenda but unless we play them and play to their strengths there will be no improvement. If we brought in this experienced striker that everyone seems to be wanting, unless we changed the way we play they would struggle to make any impact
Based on? Our problem isn't the forwards we have it's the service we give them that is the issue. Burstow is the only forward we have given a proper run in the side.
I would try and get Gelhardt back personally. I might well be in a minority of 1 but he would change the look of our forward line for me. I would also be keen to see Rusyn get some time if he is fit. Chances are Beale has some ideas on who might be worth investing in. I see us bringing in another striker, be barmy if we didnt to be honest. There are a few in this country doing a good enough job if we wanted to spend a bit of money. Tommy Conway could be a good shout in our forward line. I like Ryan Hardie. Dion Charles at Bolton is a bit of a late bloomer.
I remember mentioning Billy Sharpe being free in the summer and people thought I was p*ssed (probably was).. Guarantee if we had signed someone like him in the summer there would’ve been hell on because it shows a lack of ambition, he’s past it etc yet Hull have brought him in for cover now people are saying it’s a good signing because they’re frustrated with our situation. I’ve had this discussion so many times with mates and on this board and I’m still yet to hear anyone mention a viable “proven” striker we should go for. If they’re already proven in the championship they’re likely playing at a higher level. Look at all of the top scorers this season minus those playing for the 3 relegated clubs and none have really done anything at this level previously. In terms of our strikers I would be putting Rusyn in and leaving him for a period of time whether he plays well or not. He needs a run of games playing 70+ minutes. Also RE Burstow he was training with Chelsea’s first team and came off the bench for them before we signed him. I don’t think he’s as bad as some are making out to be and to be in and around their first team training at the age he’s at shows he’s not quite sh*te - I think the problem is us. We couldn’t play with a striker under Mowbray and he was too lazy/stubborn to try and change. He threw a striker in and continued to play as if we had a false 9 then dragged them off early.
Do you think the jump from League Two to the Championship in January is too much? I ask because I like Al Hamadi at Wimbledon and I believe we have been linked
We need a Firmino rather than a Fowler. PR and JC are what Salah and Mane were to Liverpool. If like us to sign a new LB (AA used as a centre half), CDM, a winger to give Roberts some competition and a busy forward.
