Well never mind Darwin, how Garnacho (sp) strayed offside yesterday was utterly criminal -the defender was 6 or 7 yards behind him and he had no reason whatsoever to stray in front of that ball. Idiotic. As to Elliot's disallowed goal - well them's the rules, and it worked to our advantage against West Brom in the Ally header game (I remember arguing with Tobes and some others at the Prem Board at the time that it's irrelevant whether the goalie is getting to it or not as the rules just mention being in front of the goalies vision and that is all). The issue is Mo being shoved into that position by the defender who did not attempt to play the ball, and should have been a straight red and a pen IMO. But Gakpo's goal wound me up more than that - Darwin barely touched him and the defender was off balance and not clearing that ball anyway, but once a corrupt maggot like Tierney - who never sent off Kane and decided that there wasn't enough contact on a flattened Jota to give a pen in the same game (compare that with the so-called foul by darwin)- had made such an idiotic on-field decision, then it ain't getting overturned. Us v City, Arsenal, Villa, and the PGMOL then for this title.
In all the attention on the "Salah offside / pushed" incident, is forgot to point out that we had a Gakpo goal wrongly ruled out too; Nunez made zero contract with the defender!
We are ahead of schedule really, the 'new' midfield has settled and so far,so good. How far they go in the coming years is the question, there are one or two more pieces to the jigsaw but we are not far off. Exciting times.
Indeed. I've pointed out that this is the same Paul Tierney who denied Jota a blatant pen at Spurs when he was utterly wiped out because "He stopped and stood still".
Yeh, the lad slipped and jumped up straight away, not looking for anything. As I said, we had Simon Hooper (of Spurs fame)on VAR who it seems is as incompetent in his decisions with the benefit of screens and replays, as he is with those when he's on the pitch.
Glad Jota's back before Mo goes to Africa in Jan too. Brucie bonus that. Still think he's the most clinical finisher of our five forwards.
Thing is if if you switched the shirts of the Burnley defender and Nunez, would you be giving a penalty for that foul? Absolutely not, in which case it’s not a free kick. I don’t know where this unwritten interpretation of a foul has come from that it can be enough to give a defensive free kick but not enough of a foul to be a pen. I get the ramification are so different in that it can decide a game but a fouls a foul. If you think some fouls are too soft to give a pen then either don’t give the defence those type of free kicks, or completely change what’s a pen and what is an indirect free kick for a foul in pen area.
We won We didn't concede Darwin and Jota scored We're currently top of the league People are still moaning...
if it happened in the centre circle as well it wouldn't even be looked at. he's picked out a reason to not give us anything. he's gone out of his way to knock of a goal knowing we would win anyway so make it as hard as possible was his objective.
