1 Masterton looked more likely to score than the strikers. 2, Ogie glad to see him back,. 3, Malone best of a bad bunch again.
Another performance that barely deserves a man of the match. Poor game between 2 very poor sides they were no better than us, but scored with an excellent free kick and lucky deflection We probably would still be waiting for a goal if we had kept playing until now! 1. Masterson 2. Williams 3. N/A I feel that Clemence is totally out of his depth, the final subs smacked of desperation and there was no plan.
Perhaps time to re list this page as the least bad player of the game? Where has the optimism and hope of this time last year gone......onwards and downwards.
Cant see anyone deserving this accolade. I think our supporters deserve it for continuing to watch this ?<L? Not sure what the gaffer is up to at least when Harris was in charge we scored a goal and won sometimes
I think we brought this on ourselves tbph. People kept moaning about Neil Harris and I always said initially we should not judge him until the end of the season, anything less than play-offs and he will have failed to achieve his target. When you set an achieveable target you should at least let them see it out. We weren't at threat of relegation, far from it, so there was no reason for concern. The main gripe seemed to be lack of goals, well now we have a lack of everything. It makes it easy to ask who was behind Harris' sacking, because that exonerates the fans, but that's exactly who I blame. Because negativity breeds negativity, booing your team as some fans do, achieves nothing. Yes you have the right to boo, you paid your money, but it does not mean you should exercise that right. Many years a go I can remember a fight breaking out between Millwall fans, someone slagged off the team, but the fans weren't having that, you either support your team or leave (not suggesting we fight lol). Now many left under Scally, with that I have no doubt, but some of the fans we had come in during the new reign (Galinsons) we could do without, all end up plastered all across the media as some individual decides to be racist. Absolutely embarrassing. I get to the stage where I will not even comment on twitter, due to the lack of constructive criticism, we have to accept that sometimes we do actually need to support this club vocally and not just when things are going well. We've always been a L2 coming on L1 club, we gained a few years in our history higher and that's all we ever dwell on. Example being, look at the posters put up in the Rainham End, how could anyone not know to put up a picture of Ron Hillyard, our longest servant. Then look at Peg Leg's past point about Ehmer, and the lack of praise for his time with us. Fair enough, everyone pays their money they are free to make their choice and free to air their views. I don't particularly rate the new manager, but he's our manager and I now have to get behind him, because that is the choices we made! Maddog you was there that day @alwaysright, you knew, I knew, something was up, it was utterly disgraceful and since then we've paid the price, how many managers now, I can't be arsed to count but let's say 10, Ten! Someone is welcome to correct me with the actual number. I wonder how Stevenage are doing these days, personally I can't stand the guy, but at least he knows how to get a job done, much like Neil Harris knows how to get the job done, and here we are, what more can I say lol Happy New Year Everyone.
In my defence - I'm insane ! brb - thank you for your 'charitable' post.... Some people connected with GFC do not deserve your compassion. Every fan (( especially those who pay to attend matches )), have a right to exercise their opinion - either positive or negative --- and that includes those who vocally admonished me for extracting the urine at yesterday's game. I entirely agree with you that criticism needs to be 'constructive' - and not merely to rebuke the recipient.... I have to concede that my own criticism is now becoming derogatory - because - I am tired of offering constructive comments (( along with soooooo many fans )), and it all goes ignored... I find it incredible that Clemence has, on so many occasions used nothing but utterly negative formations and tactics - with deployment of mainly defenders....... I probably lost the will to live at the Bradford game - when we were defending throw-ins in our half without any player remotely close to the halfway line..... This is something that Clemence must have demanded during 'training' sessions !! Gallinson, Scally, Jackett, Hessenthaler, Clemence, Tommy Trublu, Mrs Trublu, the utterly useless ballboys/girls (( who just sit on their bums and not give the replacement ball to players - so that 'live' play can quickly resume !! )) ---- if not all of them, then surely at least one of them must read social media comments... How can they not see what fans are saying about the crap backwards / sideways rubbish ((( and I must be mad, because in the ARGRS thread, I have wished for the return of dreaded hoofball - at least the bloody airbag was going forward !! )))..... BUT- nothing changes ((( well -that's not strictly correct - because it just gets worse. ))).... ....So, if those in 'control' won't listen to, or act upon constructive' criticism, what are the options for fans ?... We could stop attending matches - like a lot of 'sensible (sane) people - but - it would be more painful than the excrement that I am currently watching - which is now causing ' differences of opinion' with some other fans around my position in the stand - because they want me to quietly accept the crap..... like my son said - would they accept crap in another 'shop' without open criticism ??? - and it's not as if you can get a refund of the money wasted on season / matchday ticket --- in a restaurant, you can make an offer of payment, based on your assessment of the worth of the meal ( the menu price is only a guide. ) With regards to Martin Allen - well - the nonsense (( and dreadful manner of his sacking -- by text on his way home after the Shrewsbury game, )) was disgusting - and totally in keeping with Scally's style of man (mis)management - which was obviously administered to Harris..... And whilst I share your disgust of certain fans that have recently attended matches, don't forget that GFC have been tarnished as racist (( Mark McCammon debacle )), long before the monkey-gesturing idiot a few weeks ago. I expect you read my ' Last Christmas ' thread - well, today, I have started to make serious preparations ( not just plans ), for life without GFC next season (( or sooner ! )) - and it doesn't seem that it will be so bad.... maybe I'll regain some sanity... For now, I'll continue to exercise my right to be insane - by continuing to repeat things and expecting a different result.
You completely missed one very important point though, how many managers have we had? There is no stability at the club when you have a sack the manager revolving door, that reflects on the players we have in, that reflects in coaching styles, that reflects in disciplines, that reflects on performances out on the pitch! What about we actually try turning the lock in that revolving door, is it really that difficult?
Yeah it's a big problem in football along with fickle fans. You were one of those originally callling for Harris' head and how has that worked out? We don't have to copy other clubs, we could try some stability for a change. How about a five year contract and the manager has to achieve something in that time, and in the meantime we support the manager, the players they sign and we give some good old fashioned support. I take it the reason no one has counted the number of managers is because we all know it's a revolving door, the only way you will get what you want and what other fans want along with myself, is through some stability at the top. I don't particularly blame the Galinsons because as I said at the time, they really don't know what they've let themselves in for, and that I can't see in the near future how they will recoop their investment, which all said and done is what life is about. BUT we did have a team on the books that should have been more capable of guiding our new owner. The three amigos! (name seen on twitter). you know who I'm referring to. It seems they led us up the garden path and sold us a knackered donkey in place of what was a very capable manager. Oh well que sera sera.
We're on our 7th permanent manager/Head Coach since Allen was sacked in October 2013. Those being Peter Taylor, Justin Edinburgh, Adrian Pennock, Steve Lovell, Steve Evans, Neil Harris & Stephen Clemence. We also had the Gang of Four, Peter Taylor, Steve Lovell & Keith Millen act as interim/caretaker managers during that time. I've seen it mentioned and reported in numerous places now that Scott Lindsay was indeed the first choice for the role this time around, but Crawley wanted £250,000 compensation for us to take him which weren't willing to spend. So Clemence wasn't our first choice.
I still think Harris should of been sacked 100% before last January . Also said he shouldn't have gone in October.
Second choice Martin Allen, the last manager to win us a trophy and the first in fifty years, absolutely shocking he was not only sacked but replaced by keep one up boring Taylor! With seven managers and a gang of four, you'd think that revolving door would need some WD40 by now, it's got more creaks than my bones. They say you reap what you sow, and look at the mess we've got ourselves into since. It's like dissecting the black knight and trying to declare a draw. We shouldn't be demanding anything as fans, we should hold our heads in shame.
