Think you're allowed 5. We currently have 4 (Downes, THB, Holgate, Fraser). If Holgate leaves, that gives us two loan slots. We have Charles as a back-up 4th choice CB, but I'd be pretty nervous if he actually had to play a run of games. What we could do, is sign Fraser permanently, and that would free up another loan slot.
I can’t see why he’d join permanently as it would seemingly require a 50% wage cut. Unless it comes down to length of deal as Newcastle probably won’t be offering him a new one
Holgates started twice? and that’s with Stephens out injured for most of the season so far. I don’t think we need another centre back, but if there is a left back who can do a job at centre back then that would do nicely.
No thanks. This is a new era, he gave a good season and wanted out, no problem with that, but this is a fast developing younger team, most of whom seem to keep fit.
Haven’t heard much about our own loanees, apart from Tall Paul. Are any of them likely to appear in a Saints shirt in the near future?

Apparently Sergio Ramos has been up at David Lloyd’s in West End today. Anyone think we are getting a new defender (more over why would he go to a random gym in West End?)
Great centre back partnership, both quality players. Always liked Pepe as well but Ramos edges it for me
