Had Tonali and Barnes been playing we would likely have given a better performance, but we still went into this game firm favourites. I have to say you've been bang on about the summers recruitment and I suspect Howe all along. Simon Jordon was on about Howe being replaced even before this collapse and I think he's been right too.
Cos even if you take Wood out of the equation, that argument doesn't work - had Tonali been playing rather than Longstaff and Barnes in place of Miggy we would have been better. But the fact the player he spent years slating just scored a hat trick compounds this further.
