Team spirit should be boosted significantly this week, Harper's back and we've finally got shot of Ranger!

Newcastle, in my opinion, weren't relying on this 'run of games' for the way we've been playing. Some people make it sound like the unbeaten tag was the root cause of the success so far.

Yes, we've been high on confidence, but after losing to arguably the best team in the league away (likely to win it now in my view) confidence shouldn't be dented. They're all a bunch of pro footballers and they've faced defeat many times. It isn't some shock horror situation.

Man Utd got ****ing skinned by City in their own fortress that is Old Trafford, yet no one is mentioning bubbles there, despite that defeat being 10 times worse than ours (it would be like us being beat 6-1 by Sunderland at SJP - truly horrifying).

We lost against City yes, but it was down to 2 penalties and Ryan Taylor not looking at the ball. We were never truly outplayed head-to-head in-terms of goals, and I think all of our team will take some comfort from that. Yeah we got outplayed a lot of the game, but it never resulted in a goal until we started making mistakes.

When Ben Arfa hit the post (and other players missed some good chances) I just knew that we weren't meant to win this one. I'm sure other teams have felt like that against us, but on Saturday it was our turn. No biggie. It happens.

Man City are gonna mash the **** out of some teams this season (they've done it a few times so far), but we held our own very well considering that we had arguably our best player missing (Tiote).

Thanks for the kind words in your other post btw.

The key point though is that the QPR, Fulham and Bolton games were at their home grounds, and you will know as well as I do that home form is better than away form for virtually every team in the league - much better in some cases. In their stadiums with their fans behind them, they will always play better whereas your team will never feel as comfortable as they do at the Etihad.

We came to your stadium, where you've been thrashing every team, and whilst we lost, we can keep our heads held high. I will have more confidence when you take us on at SJP and we have the 'home advantage', but actually heading over to your stadium, the odds for us were very slim. I highly suspect that you will get a much tougher game from us when you head over here.

If we find ourselves out of the top four at all then Pardew has to go.

Not worried in the least about anything. We've got a good team with a bunch of players that play for each other and are capable of beating anybody. Sure we'll have our bad moments but our good ones will exceed them by far.

  9. Well, guys, we've finally made our move into 3rd, pushing you down into 4th, and the Chavs into 5th. I really do hope that you can keep them, 'Pool and Arsenal out of the top 4 for the rest of the season <ok>

You know, 2 points from the next 2 games and we could still be in 4th even after our "horror run" of games. A bit on the unlikely side, certainly, but not impossible by any means.
