One of the biggest issues with the digital tickets was the piss poor communication around them. The club stated you had to have a nfc enabled device for them to work, then the making mess around physical season cards and making people queue for hours to get a plain white plastic card with a qr code. The fact the club continued to bang on about needing an NFC enabled device when it's not true just doubled down on the ****e communications. It was almost like they didn't know what they had bought. And before anyone jumps on me that it's the way the world is going, I am aware of that, I'm also aware of the issues the change to digital tickets have and continue to cause
A response in the technical area prior to going 3 - 0 down on Saturday might have brought a better result. Veiled blaming the players cheap shot that is. Maybe the chancer should look closer to home.
Another game today. After the match will be time to reflect if there was improvement. Not to be perfect but to have taken a step in the right direction. You have a strong anti Beale sentiment reading your posts, wonder if you’ll see any positives while your looking for the negative?
The problem is that once you've declared something/someone will fail you can only be proved correct if it does fail. It must be strange wanting to be proved right.
My New Year’s resolution will be to try not to bite to the absolute negativity being spread around our support, it’s souring my enjoyment of being a fan.
I'm not looking for the negative - I am against this appointment because I don't think it will work for a number of sound reasons. The bloke has no record of success in senior management in his previous 2 brief roles. I don't think another fairly junior coach added to the already junior coaching team of dodds and Proctor will assist much in terms of player development or results in the 1st team. I have doubts about speakmans model - yes well done on improving the squad from the days of parkinson and getting safc into the top 10 (for now) of English footballs 2nd tier but the clubs ceiling is a lot higher than that imo. Beales 1st game did nothing to reassure he is competent in game management or motivational aspects - it was so flat its untrue. I see this getting a lot worse before it gets better. Hopefully I'm wrong.
to be fair the players were poor on Saturday. He’s hardly going to come out and say he failed and is going to try harder. criticise him if he does it after every game. Not after 1 game.
I get a lot of people were against the appointment but it’s done. It wasn’t a vote, it was a decision by KLD who has millions invested in the club. I really hope you’re wrong too. Going into the day on a downer expecting the worst and hoping to be proven wrong isn’t something I cannot personally cope with. I need to be positive about those things I can’t control otherwise I’d go bananas and/or be divorced in no time.
Fair enough - you could see the logic in the alex neil and tony mowbray appointments-both had solid championship records over a decent period of time. Mowbray was perfect for steadying things after promotion. For the record I wasn't against TM going when he did if he could be replaced with a better gaffa - I'm of the strong opinion he has been downgraded considerably.
What don't you like about speakmans model? Do you know the parameters he is working under? How much money he has? The demands from KLD in terms of the age demographic of squad? Speakman doesn't hold the purse strings but what he has done since arriving is get rid of dead wood and ageing players, bought some brilliant talented players who have given us some sublime moments. Got us out of l1 and sustainable in championship. Its a process, we aren't lumping tens of millions on ready-made players. We don't have Premier league parachute money. We might take the odd disappointment but I bet you weren't crying last season when we made the play offs. Whether Beale is right remains to be seen but don't condemn cos of a few crap months at Rangers. And don't write him off after a loss to Coventry either. The pitchforks will be out if we lose today but I'll keep backing the manager. He deserves a fair crack of whip
I think that's the problem, so many of our fans think we have a billionaire owner so we will be splashing millions on players. I'm sure KLD wants us in the Premier league as soon as possible but it will take time. I've heard it mentioned the summer transfer window was a failure. It just shows people don't understand the model, most of the players signed in the summer were to bring in gradually and probably not really expected to be starting games. Obviously Jobe was which has been a success and I do think Rusyn and Mayenda were, Mayenda got injured and I'm not sure what the problem with Rusyn is as I think it's our best option. Like I said people are negative towards the club because its been run differently than what they want, KLD isn't going to change his plan because its not to some fans liking. I said it the other day we are 3 points off 5th place if that's where we finish then we have processed every season since he came in. I can't see what people want, other than the same people shouting, we're sunderland, we're massive we get 40,000 every home game, we have the god given right to be in the Premier league. The same ones that on on here every home game asking if someone has a stream they can watch the game on
I think you could be relaying the opinions of many other fans. The end of the season will tell ultimately but I can't see this bloke getting to the end of the season if I'm being honest.
Quiet thread post match. One result doesn’t mean a lot on its own but kept a clean sheet and performance overall was better than last game.
It's a strange couple of games leading up to this mind. After beating Leeds and West Brom with what looked like a tweaked setup, we then reverted to type against Bristol City and Coventry. Why not go straight away with what has clearly worked in the last fortnight instead of what hasn't worked all season? It seems like such a no-brainer. It's very difficult to believe any professional would look at the last three games before being appointed and picking the one where we got thumped as the one to go with.
Just had a message from a mate on his way home from Hull. He says the mood wasn't toxic, no one sang about Mowbray and our support was top class, especially in the last half hour ... ... these aren't gullible rose tinted dopes, just Sunderland til they die.
Mood seems to be turning on Twitter, a growing number of folk telling the knee jerkers to bore off in the comments https://x.com/philip_rj89/status/1739687938449956998?s=46&t=ytuWp7U1aolYI5Bcb_Paxg Few more performances like that and things will get back on track
Loads will change their opinion on a game by game basis. Pleased he got his 1st win n as he said in his post match interview its time to be more consistent
