It's is indeed and that's thanks to the PL and to an extent Sky.

If it our commercial side flying means we can be ahead of the game and maybe pay a bit more in wages or keep a player when the new rules come in then I will bang that drum.

An awful lot of clubs are in for a shock when the new ffp rules come in and I want us to be the front of - can't think of the right word, but at the top of the list of non state / dodgy sponsorship deal clubs

Looks like KLD is on the charm offensive, drinking in Whitburn Club, buying people drinks and shouting **** the mags <laugh>

I get the feeling so much of this negative crap is because some fans didn't get the head coach they wanted.
What I can't get my head around is we are 3 points of 5th place, if that's where we finish this season it means we will have progressed every season since KLD took over as well as making the club self sufficient and putting the ground work in for the future.
I'm not sure what anyone else expected after what we have been dealing with for the years prior.
If we stagnate or go backwards I could understand the complaints

It's become clear, to me over many years, where the split is with our support. I may be wrong but I'll say what I think and people can agree/disagree/ignore.

Those who are most aggressive at attacking the club either live with or work/socialise with Mags ...

... those who don't are more relaxed and able to cope.

Back to this no input into team selection… wasn’t it Ricky Sbragia who held off using a loan player and saved the club a small fortune for the next seasons transfer kitty? Cisse maybe? Been going on for years and will always be there.

I would genuinely like to know what the good reason is. He’s regarded as an excellent coach by plenty of players and coaches. That’s his job here so I don’t see why it should be a good fit on merit.
I’ve no idea who the foreign managers were that everyone was fawning over or what they might bring to the club. I doubt many supporters do and there’s certainly no proof they would be any better than what we’re getting.

Elements of our support were a disgrace yesterday. The supporters who behave like that will push any positivity away and if they choose to openly criticise a bloke who stepped through the door less than a week ago they will get what they predict, a team that goes backwards.

Please explain why Beale will be poor and explain what benefit anyone will get from the negativity shown by some sections of our “supporters” yesterday.

I certainly dont remember such a daft reaction to a new gaffer as this one. Ironically he may be well be about as good a fit, on paper, to what the club need to any other appt I can think of in my time watching them. It represents long term thinking for me, part of the plan, and I applaud the club for it. Whether it goes well or not nobody can be certain. But dear oh dear there has been some really daft reactions on here. How anyone can be so certain it will fail is beyond me. What does worry me is that is seems far too many have fallen into the selfish trap of not wanting him to do well before he has even started. Posts on here this weekend from some have bordered on I told you so. We all know fans can hound out coaches and make it so difficult for success to happen. If enough have decided his fate before he has had chance to work for us it is a kind of self-destructive nonsense we should be embarassed about. I wasnt there yesterday but some of the views coming out is that a vocal minority are already hell bent on Beale being useless. Sad times indeed.

I have been staggered at some of our management appts in the past. But they always get my support, even when the writing is on the wall. I embarassed myself by calling for Dennis Smith to go, never again. Our patience with coaches is a real blight on how we are perceived. I would have kept Mowbray as folk know, and I wouldnt have put Beale in my top 5 picks, but I reckon the club know a lot better than me. So I take some time to look at Beale and think, bingo, we have done something very clever here. I hope he is here for years and every person so adamant he is wrong eats their words. Sadly, I suspect every defeat, every interview, every substitute is going to used a stick to hit him with even when it is daft to do so. He is a thick skinned lad is Beale, which is going to be needed here I think, sadly.

Spot on mate. Supporters need to remember they impact performance directly. We can play our part in success. Or we can drag the team down. More so a young team. I have seen it before with players and coaches, it is a terrible thing to do. The good news re Beale, according to some who know him, this will fire him up to prove people wrong. He is a proud man, of what he has done to get to this point. 20 years of graft gone into this. I have heard things like he is the most obsessed football person ever met, etc. While we are all posting daft opinions on here I would out my Christmas dinner on him being sat working on training plans for the next few weeks to remedy what he saw yesterday.

He’s managed in the championship. Once.

He had QPR challenging to get to the premier league. On the back of that, premier league clubs offered him a job.

    What’s wrong with that?

Great post m, I have issues with the owners but at the game yesterday I clapped, cheered, sang and let the bloke behind know AGAIN his constant moaning wasn't helping.

There's a time and place for airing gripes and during the game isn't it (in my opinion)

The negativity after one result is uncalled for and ill judged, but as a collective we're no worse than any other fans in that respect, in my opinion. I think if you take a popular manager at any club and replace them with at best an unexpected appointment and at worst an unwanted appointment, you'd see similar reactions.

He's 2 or 3 positive results away from a completely different landscape. He needs to go and get them now. Said last night, the mags game is a problem for him, too evocative. I guarantee he wishes it wasn't in play, but it is...number of ways it could play out, some very positive...but he could definitely do without it, all in all.

I worked with a load when Keegan was in charge and had it in the neck with some of them. One even came up to me at the start of the season after they bottled the title to Man Utd spouting that this season they were gonna do it and he couldn't wait to see my face when they did. I told him to come back in May and I would hold my hands up and say well done - he never came back for some reason! <laugh>

Just throwing this out there but at the time how many people thought that Mowbray was a good appointment or even wanted? The guy has had 1 game in charge and I doubt he had that much insight into the players to go with that team yesterday. However, he is now the man in charge and he will live or die by the decisions made and with games coming hand over fist in the next few weeks he needs to get up to speed with them as quickly as he can and as supporters we need to do our bit by backing him and the team on the pitch whether we think he is the right bloke or not

No they didn't- it was his agent hawking him around the wolves job.

Was never a serious option for them. Oh and that's a great character endorsement as well.

He has no track record of any use.
The players clearly aren't impressed by this appointment.
He has to work with Dodds and proctor who seemingly are untouchable and unsackable no matter how it goes - that's not healthy.
The support aren't behind this one iota.

This is destined to go wrong very quickly - can see it a mile off. After going since the 70s I'm ready to pack in after this season.
