Rebecca: "Who's been a naughty boy then ?" Tom: "Weren't me ref. I don't wanna make this kind of history !!"
The doubly ludicrous thing was that VAR couldn't overrule it due to the bizarre 'rule' that means only straight red cards can be reviewed not red cards resulting from two yellows. A rule which is clear and obvious bollocks.
Darlow’s on for Leeds, after their keeper got himself sent off. Preston currently giving them a schooling.
Sub goalkeeper Karl Darlow's first act is to fish the ball out of the back of his net. Anything Ingram can do...
How deluded is Shearer as a commentator? Singing Everton praises and declaring they deserved to be ahead at half time? Must be watching a different match to me.
Yeah Pickford was at fault for two goals tonight. Very unlike him, but shows no goalkeeper is immune to a mistake.
apparently, according to a crap article, this is man utd's worst start to a season since 1930-31 (when they lost their first 12 games (conceding 49 goals), by the end of the year had two wins, three draws (hence 7 points) and 18 defeats from 23 games, and had scored 27 goals and conceded 79). however they are currently 6th of 20 teams with 10 wins, a draw, and 8 defeats. the article says they've lost 13 of their first 27 matches, which is true, due to their abymsal champions league form. older viewers will recall their relegation in 1973-74 (including denis law's uncelebrated back-heeled goal for man city to consign utd to division 2). by the end of 1973 they had 5 wins, 6 draws, and 11 defeats, giving 16 points. they'd scored 20 and conceded 27. i don't have the end-of-year table to hand, but given that they doubled that point tally and were relegated second last, it's fair to assume they were in the drop zone at the end of 1973. which is worse than 6th near the end of 2023. if i extend the 73-74 run to 27 games, 5-6-11-20-27 becomes 6-7-14-23-34. and 14 defeats from 27 is worse than 13 from 27. and 6 wins is worse than this season's 12. they ended with 10 wins, 12 draws, and 20 defeats from 42 games. that's 32 points. they came 21st of 22.
TWS's lack of discipline is what will (hopefully) cost them this season. 3 points were there for the taking v Preston but the keeper cost them. Every forward from now on will be getting under Meslier's skin / giving him a little nudge - supposing he will come straight back in when he's available
