Just seen Man City are in the club world cup final tonight so their PL game against Brentford tomorrow has been postponed...

I guess it's only correct to do that but really does leave a sour taste when they made us play both the other year

 

we had a league cup game and the efl deliberately screwed us over. klopp though said there was nowhere in the calender to replay it.

it's almost like city deliberately dumped the league Cup this season to go to this.

 

It's still less important that the Mickey Mouse cup in my book.

 

Get where you're coming from considering the competition (opposition teams) and heritage but I'd rather say we're World Champions than League Cup winners

 

It's just a show-piece competition imo. More games in already over-stuffed season designed to make more money.
Does anyone care about it who isn't actually in it? I only realised it was taking place when I read a headline on the Beeb.

Bar the money aspect, I think you could apply the same description to the League Cup

 

You play much better teams in league cup than the World Cup thing.

 

I mean it was a clear foul. The guy grabbed the keepers arm as he was trying to punch the ball. Only thing would say is that sheff United got the ball and from then I’d say play reset and was their own fault for then giving it away by trying to dribble past player.

Shoukd they have gone back that far? Maybe maybe not. But ref also should have just given the foul to start.

I watched it when we were in it, because I'd watch us play my local pub team, but I didn't care about it much and I've never watched a single minute of it otherwise.
It's not a real competition.
Get a couple of big teams and a load nobody has ever heard of, give them a couple of games, call it "World" something or other to con people into thinking it's important and rake in the dosh - dead easy.
It's nothing more than an international Charity Shield as far as I'm concerned - and I thought that when we won it.

Of course, but like you say the rest of the world isn't on the same level as Europe. Only a handful of South American and occasionally Mexican clubs come anywhere it - the rest are cannon-fodder.
It's an exhibition tournament - nothing more.

 

Only from our perspective because we think we're better than the rest of the world.

It's better than the American approach of claiming world champions despite only their teams talking part


I agree it's ****, but so is the League Cup

 

In South America it is huge and think lots of players take it more seriously than English fans do .

 

if we can be called back after 2 full mins and a pen given against us then var can review in 5 seconds.

what do these media pundits want now? refs to blow a whistle and stop the game everything a decision is required then take 2mins to view it.

they need to make their minds up. you cannot criticise for being ****, for making wrong calls, for not using var but then decide when they do try to make a decision that they are wrong to do so.

First v spurs they were not taking long enough and rushing so made error

then a week later they were taking too long.

then it's they are making silly decisions and next thing they are reviewing wrongly

a clear foul and cheat was made last night. A very clear incident on replay. but some arse says they game went on for 10 seconds so how dare you even look???

I mean seriously.... either accept cheating and bad decisions or let the video help reduce the errors.
