Whilst a Counsel is required to take the next case that comes up in rotation, they can (and do) decline cases that do not fit their area of competence. Starmer spent a lot of time fighting cases in places like the Bahamas and St Lucia in the 2000s – sounds like hard work in a tough environment.

So just why did Keir Starmer QC at the time accept a case in the European Court of Human Rights for a terrorist organisation fighting their proscription in Germany? And why did Hizb ut-Tahrir list that case here rather than Germany? They believe in the way that the English/Infidel Legal System works more than the German one? Starmer had previous with the ECHR as he had taken ‘pro-bono’ work there in the 1990s. Starmer sees himself as being big on human rights, even for terrorists, so he did not opt out. They must have been working class terrorists.
