IAnd here we go with another match thread, I know its early but i just felt like beating Leeds-18 to it to be honest. The team i reckon that we should play is: ----------------McCarthy--------------- Connolly----Lees------Kissa-------White Snoddy-----Howson-----Clayton----Pugh ------------Becchio-----Ross----------- And yes, i am starting becchio instead of keogh. Keogh hasnt played well for the last couple games and i reckon he just needs to sit one out, not that i would drop him permanently, more just to keep the squad rotation. I'm going for a 3-1 Leeds win and another 3 points to keep us ticking with Snoddy, Kissa and Pugh getting the goals. May be a bit scrappy first half but we will take control in the second i feel to win the game. So, what are people's predictions?
id probably go for the same team, maybe play sam over pugh seen as though this is a home game we should defo be looking to win. 2-0, becchio x2
I like your team there Josh and hope Grayson starts with it. That maybe a bit hard on Sam who looked lively for us, but I think not having Pugh in there restricted White quite a bit. Would deffo start Becchio as well as our front two havent been scoring lately. You've got to show your squad members theres a chance to break into the first team when players start to under perform. I may even consider Nunez in the mix, maybe instead of Mccormack but thats a tougher choice and maybe a sub option!
Logi, agree with what you put but Connoly was right up against it Saturday. I would start him again, as you said we havent really got any other choice. Wouldnt put Lees there the back four has been so unsettled this term, we must have made more changes to the back four than anyone else in the League!
I'd go for: -----------------------McCarthy----------------------- Connolly---------Kissa------------Lees----------White ----------------Clayton---------Pugh Snoddy-----------------Howson----------------Sam ------------------------Becchio Think it's time we mixed things up a bit as we've been looking a bit stale and predictable going forward. Expect a narrow nervy win, Barnsley games have always been hard, then again look at what happened at Donny.
I agree with Simon's team. McCormack and Keogh haven't been scoring and a 4-4-2 is very restrictive. With that formation, Pugh would still be able to cover for White's runs, whilst Sam and Snodgrass will be able to push forward and Howson get into the box and make those runs in the final third. Becchio can play the lone striker. I personally feel that this is the best team we've got.
Is Pugh even available for selection! Picked up a Hamstring injury b4 international break didn't he!??? Hence why Sam got his start I think!
Finally getting up to first game of season Is pugh fit? Attendance predictions? My team --- McCarthy --- -- Connolly -- Lees -- Kisnorbo -- White -- -- Snodgrass -- Clayton -- Howson -- Pugh?/Sam -- --- Keogh -- McCormack -- Subs: Nunez, Cairns, Becchio, O'Dea/Bruce, Brown
Looks doubtful for Pugh judging by what Grayson said the other day. Sam probably deserves another go after his second half at Burnley (though his first half was quite weak, I thought). Nunez can always come on second half and change the game like he has that knack of doing. Attendance looks alright from the official site. I suspect around 25k. Nice to actually have a Saturday 3pm kick-off at Elland Road. A pleasant surprise.
So 30 minutes in we have had no shots on target 1 off target and we are 0-1 down already, come on lads what the hell are you playing at...
