what we now have is uefa who can organise their own competitions and in theory can say they are by invitation only. aka if you choose to go do that other comp then our games will clash so you can't pick and choose to the club. you may have domestic leagues like the Premier league to say we are not in the eu or at least we are a private league and if you compete in that you.dont compete here. what does the ruling really mean other than uefa cannot fine or otherwise punish participating clubs? la liga knows it cannot live without its two clubs so will bend over. psg stuck with uefa last time to get at the others out of self interest. Saudis.might want their own comp now with stadium teams and their European owned clubs who knows where this might go.
The Saudis and other ME owners can take the teams they own or have some financial interests in and form a new league and leave the rest of us to get on with it in our domestic leagues.
I have no idea where this will go either. I was trying to create a European Super League based on a sense of fairness. Over time then the so called giants would eventually make up the large amount of teams in it but it would take quite a few years, unlike the abomination they were trying to bring in.
All FIFA/UEFA have to do is say any player/team that play in the super league are not eligible for FIFA/UEFA competitions, some of us are old enough to remember when Kerry Packer tried to set up a cricket super competition. Although golf bottled it and let the Saudis take over, but golf being an individual player sport is different than football. There will always be players to replace any that jump ship to a super league.
but they cannot. the second they say thst they are deemed to be abusing their power in Europe and subject to sanction. fifa have no hand nor part in this. they literally couldn't give a ****. there's an African super leavue already sanctioned by fifa. the saudis will have bought fifa anyway so a middle east/saudi super leavue is inevitable. we are talking about uefa v european breakaways here and any punishment put on any player or team will be met with a massive law suit and billions in damages. this is bosman again. what we are seeing is statements from certain clubs like bayern that domestic leagues are sacrosanct etc. we are impatiently awaiting lfc statement. if fsg leave it much longer I expect full on protests at the game v arsenal.
Surely FIFA/UEFA can make rules for their own competitions and exclude teams that are not members of their respective associations and just have rules that exclude teams that play in other competitions.
The problem with that is, even Luton could probably win European 18th best national league. There wouldn't be much competition.
. At the very least they could make it as inconvenient as possible for any break away teams so that they're unable to effectively compete in either league.
makes sense. they only need put games on sane day or with 24 hours and that's that. there is no onus on anyone to make room in a schedule for any new league
If you’re taking part in a replacement CL then you won’t want to be in the actual UEFA CL anyway so not really an issue for the clubs.
Still waiting for a statement ruling out the super league like we've seen from the Manchester clubs. I would have thought a man who appeared on TV looking sheepish and apologising would have been quick to say no ? What a ****house.
Confirmed that the club, unlike utd, will not be issuing a new statement, following the latest developments, having already issued a statement unequivocally backing away from the ESL.
Still waiting for Newcastle to release a statement ruling out the super league. I would have thought the wonderful Saudi government would have been quick to say no? It’s funny that you think you auddenly have to release a statement to confirm not doing something. Weird way of doing things. Do you release a statement to confirm you’re not having a **** when you leave the room? Or release a statement to confirm you’re not having fish for dinner?
I'm still waiting for Newcastle fans to complain about the club they love being owned by a bunch of murdering tyrants. We don't always get what we want...
I always release a statement confirming I'm not leaving the room when I'm having a ****. I think it's only fair.
Newcastle aren't one of the clubs that tried to create it, so unfortunately Liverpools owners are accountable. Why is your owner who came out apologising hiding in the grass again? He's a snake that's why. I'm grateful to the Liverpool fans who objected to the super league not to your revolting owner who lies through is poisonous tongue.
Because he’s already talked about it 2 years ago? If you apologise for something. Do you then 2 years later apologise for it again when someone mentions it?
