On the flip side, if Ipswich come through those fixtures and the gap remains around 10 points, that will more than likely mean we are out of the race.
For me I want Ipswixh to lose all 3, Leicester are going up as champions. 3 losses to Leeds and Leicester and the players will feel anxious about form, ee can capitalise. It's also good to for Leeds to keep preforming, makes sure our team doesn't take its foot off the gas until the end of the season.
In a perfect world it would be 2 losses to Leicester and draw with Leeds. If Ipswich do fall away then it will go right down to the wire between us and Leeds. The last day clash at Elland road is always in the back of my mind.
What I want is for Leicester not to win another game all season, us to go up as champions and Ipswich second, with Sunderland coming through in the playoffs. But that's not going to happen, I sadly suspect.
The advantage Leicester have (other than the massive points gap), is that they will be able to be bolder in the transfer window, knowing that they are basically up. It will also make them more appealing for potential signings. If I was Che, for example, I'd rather go to Leicester than Burnley.
I think there's a good chance your suspicions are right and Leicester won't implode. Can but hope both of them drop points and we continue by picking up wins such that we're in the automatic mix approaching the end of the season. That's done it I said the H word but it does spring eternal.
I'm usually the first person to focus on other results. But in this case, I don't really see those three games for Ipswich as being that much of a focus. At least one member of the current top three will have to drop points, and quite possibly two or all three of them. So leave them be. What happens, happens. Instead, it's all about us. Win our games and take advantage of the dropped points which will have to occur above us. We just had two triple-headers where we missed my targets (I wanted 9 and then 6+, instead we got 7 and 5). We need to make it third time lucky. Maximum points please from QPR, Swansea and Plymouth.
Ipswich's Sam Morsy has been named in the provisional Egypt squad for AFCON. Hopefully he ends up going as they are already set to lose Luongo & Burgess to the Aussies in the Asia Cup. That would be both starting CMs and a starting CB missing for 4 or 5 matches.
Luongo retired from international football yesterday. Wouldn't be surprised if the others pull out too.
Yeah, I was reading their forums the other day and they would worry if they did lose him but seem pretty confident that he won't make the squad. He is in this provisional squad but so is about 5% of Egypt by the looks of it(50 man provisional is huge!) but he didn't make the squad in their last round of games in November. Lets hope his good form gets him in the squad.
Other thing which may come into the equation. We have to play Leeds Leicester and Ipswich away in the second half of the season. Already played them all at home
True, but all 3 of those games are in the last 10 games. So right now is our opportunity to gain on Ipswich while we have the favourable fixtures (and it really is up until the end of February).
