Where I'm a bit naive in all this, I was reading where child x who I believe is a young female, was using the dark web - I don't know what this dark web is is it some sort of encryted site, and how did a child know how to access it or do most kids who are internet savvy know how to access it?
Yes read that and thought the same, I asked my lad the question,he said, dad you don't want to know what's out there to watch, I obviously asked what he watches , he said nowt but it's not difficult to find stuff if you know where to look, then told me one of his mates found out his 14 yr old sister was on one of those suicide sites a few months back and she's now in therapy.
Ah makes sense, because we must be about the same age, so at least if neither of us know I don't feel so dumb - I could google it suppose, but I don't really want to know myself, was just curious how kids know, but I guess then that they all do. Seems to cause a lot of trouble for the kids, and I can only guess adult naivety towards it, thus prevents control, you just hope they can manage themselves with it, but clearly many cannot, as the example you gave and one that I thought of as a danger to kids, those suicide sites.
Its easy enough for anyone to access tbh I had a dabble years back and it's not for me, mainly child porn ****, hacking, personal data, weapons, hitmen, human trafficking, drugs... basically anything you're not allowed or just shouldn't be looking at is there. And i hear it's even worse nowadays
Im no expert bro but to get into it you need to use something called tor which basically scrambles your ip address so no one can track or trace you,. And I'm absolutely certain that intelligence services use it, there's rumours the guy who got done for silk road (the eBay for drugs at the time) was being used by such services once they had him by the balls. I watched a really good youtube recently about it, ill try dig it out.
I think I find this the hardest part to deal with. In my profession I have had conversations with colleagues where we've been dealing with a child at 9/10 over a period of time, and turned to each other having known what the child is capable of and said we know what they'll be like at 16/17. At the same time, we haven't lost hope and felt with the right intervention and pastoral support to change their outlook on life, often a love for themselves and from others, they can be turned around. I know we've managed that with certain children and I can name them, they stick with you. But there comes a point when it's too late and I always worry if it's not done by the time they get to secondary school then it is often too late.
That's insane ****. I think the thing that disturbs me is it looks like there's a world of ppl out there doing some nefarious and sinister **** and they're anywhere and everywhere.
Who named it the dark web I wonder….for me there’s no such place, dark web equals not being able to be traced rather than anything else in fact the dark web is probably less sinister than your regular web browser most kids or adults would be using As per usual the headlines aka buzz word in this case the word “dark” is the play of words which get the *****l public ticking in fear and mistrust let me tell you there’s no more sinister place than alphabet aka parent of google and all the other main players
