Didn't we get a similar amount at St James Park when we played Newcastle during the Hateley era? From memory I think we got 6 or 7 thousand?

Away fans always get a bigger allocation for cup games yeah. I think most of the hand wringing is because it's for their bitter rivals tbh

    It'll make for a really good atmosphere.:emoticon-0148-yes:

Edit:- Apparently they're in huge demand and one of these ****ty ticket tout company's are flogging home tickets for £1500 and away tickets for £2000.

Credit to Brid in 1948, I'd guess supporters were using trains to come in to Paragon from all over East Yorkshire, Hornsea, Withernsea, Mkt Weighton etc all connected to railways then the train to BP Halt, massive support.

Season ticket holders would be ,moved, as you say, anywhere else where they virtually sell out. Season tickets do not guarantee tickets for Cup games to all, pass holders for that very reason, Blackburn is one of the best places for ticket numbers as a percentage of the ground as they give out one whole end now crowds have dropped.

No, they weren’t actually. Most were coming by coach direct to the ground from Brid. Even in the mid 1960s I can remember up to a dozen coaches sometimes, though normally 6 or 7.
As soon as we were old enough to get away with getting in pubs most games were on an early tain and straight into the pubs. The buses then were mainly left to the old, actually they will have been around the age I am now, pipe smoking brigade. It was like a fog.<laugh>

We got an allocation of about 2,500, sold those, then got the same in another corner, sold those, then got another corner, I seem to remember it was the highest away attendance St James Park had seen for many many years.

It was the most since Brighton played there last game of season in 1979 to clinch promotion to Division 1 for first time in their history. Remember watching highlights of their game as commentator said there was no better place to clinch promotion than Newcastle where people really appreciated good football as in the background you could see hundreds of Geordies trying to tear down fencing to get at the Brighton fans.

By coaches, I suspect what was meant was stage coaches and horse 'n' carts. Hardware stores made a mint in sales of shovels for the mountains of horses*** involved... allegedly the origin of Bunkers Hill? ! :emoticon-0112-wonde :emoticon-0105-wink:

'Hull's share of the gate money......' erm, found its way to the Hull Sharks ( Hull FC) Angie Rowe, or someone working at City leaked it out that the gate receipts from the Newcastle game paid for tarmacing the car park at the Boulevard, it was just mud and hardcore before that, and other ground improvements. The invoice for the work was questionable to say the least. The whole Hateley era was a very dodgy time financially for Hull City. And worse was to come.

Heard Sunlan twats are trying to buy any single seats in home areas. Locals must be involved as you need a local postcode and address.

I'd have been early twenties. Within a couple of years of first moving here. Brought up a couple of mates and just remember being on a bender from Monday night to Thursday morning.

I know we lost, but did OK I seem to recall.

    Can't remember much else though.

Jusr remember cleaning the sofa after one of the invited chundered kebab on it.

    Luckily it was scotchguarded.

Ian Rush scored the other for them. No one scored for us, it ended 2-0.

A mate leant me his pass for the game so I was sat with a load of Geordies but the away end was very impressively attended.

We played well. Nil nil at half time then they scored within minutes of the second half kicking off. Didn't get their second until the last ten minutes so we had an interest in the game throughout, although truth be told we created very little.
