This is exactly how I feel, not a bad signing but I was working myself up with a whole host of YouTube montages…
Jeez you’re a moaning set you lot. Still think it’s a cracking signing for the squad as a whole. You never know he might score a worldie at Wembley to send us up.
Well, never saw that coming. Not totally against it - Sheffield Utd connections aside. Could be a Windass type signing with a view to giving current srrikers a helping hand on and off the pitch - bags of knowledge to draw on. Doubt we'll see that much of him starting matches, but a useful option. You never know, he might score the winner in the playoff final against L**ds. Edit- been out all day, so if anyone has said any of the above apologies, but you know your onions.
What's Billy Whitehurst doing nowadays? We could do with someone waiting for a corner and grabbing a player's bollocks - or is that just me? https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/sheffield-united-billy-whitehurst-hard-20320555 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Whitehurst
I was saying months ago Sharp would be a decent signing. Adding experience etc. Around the dressing room. Even If only for 1 season (now half). Was only really used as a sub for sheff utd last year, hence low goal return. What do we have to lose? And he could end up being the difference. Should still be looking ar t other forward options too.
He won’t be more than that here though. Legs have gone, realistically we need another 2 forwards (wide preferably) as well as him. That can play more
We know we're after at least another wide player. Acun's teasing 2 or 3 more, so maybe 2 wingers, maybe a winger and another forward. No sense trying to judge the window until it's done. Remember the smell of piss on here in summer until the last few days?
Have they though...he has scored 6 in 12 I think for LA I think I seen. Note, I don't know the standard over there. Sub to throw on in the last 15 mins if we are losing/drawing. I could think of worse. As others have said, it's about training, rubbing off on the younger players. Lets not forget, he was part of a promotion winning team only last year. I reckon he would still be there if they was not promoted. I think it will be a positive addition.
Billy Sharp is a surprise. I must say, I’m a little underwhelmed . Hopefully if it’s true, it’s a master stroke that works out. I was hoping for a more dynamic signing. Unfortunately this story looks like it could hold water. But you never know, probably only a year or so ago some silly **** on here was peddling the rumour that we were signing a 41 year old Samual Eto’o! He’d only been retired two years!!!
Assuming he’s not costing us much, it’s not a bad signing to see the season out, could definitely do a lot worse. For me though, it just highlights what a mistake it was to send Oscar out on loan.
They hardly offer the same thing, to be fair. And the 2 players we replaced Oscar with in summer are only 1 short of his tally last year. And given Oscar's injury record - and he's currently injured again - what's the point in persisting with a player on a key wage, that doesn't fit, and spends as much time unfit as available?
If we're 1-1 and we get a corner, he's the kind of player you want in the box waiting for a ball to drop down. Shrewd signing.
I don't think we've signed him to be a regular starter, which he still was a couple of years ago. Honestly think it's more to do with adding a bit of experience, mentality and that little bit of ****housery when needed.
