If speakman picks the team, he's doing a canny job so far!

Wasn't so long that our fanbase was in uproar about Methven, that big bad Etonian from the South spouting all that snobbery about us simple-minded peasants from the North.

Evidently, some of our fanbase deserved him.

Surely there’s pressure on managers/coaches to pick certain players within reason at all clubs.

For arguments sake Bellingham hasn’t came here to sit on the bench I imagine we promised game time and that’s how we managed to pull it off.

I imagine there’s probably some questioning of team selection by Speakman because of the way the model works. They want their young players to develop and grow. I’d also imagine more old school managers won’t like it. It’s different and it’s them that feel the wrath of it goes wrong. Things like the striker scenario- young or ‘new to the league’ players who appear unready and the manager gets it. It’s rarely one solution in life though - so between managerial adaptation, player appearances, coaching, player management they should improve so I think we need a manager who isn’t entirely black and white in their thinking. Of course I’m only just surmising

Good Luck Michael. Looking at Twitter, Facebook and on certain posts on here, you will need signifintly more than most managers as people have already decided you don’t deserve to be given a chance

I get that, but I wouldnt go as far as to say promises were made. Every player joining a first team environment now seeks assurances about how the club see them fitting in, position and role in the team etc. Jobe will have wanted to feel confident he would be was going to fit in and there was a route to the team for him. I doubt he expected, or was given, a promise of x games. Sometimes you see contractual clauses in loan players, but that is not common as far as I am aware.

I suspect the coaches and the technical staff meet quite regularly to review performance. Probably every 3 or 4 games. Mowbray would have shared his thoughts on players, performances and what went well and didnt. Speakman, English etc will have asked questions to understand coaches perspective. I fully expect Speakman or Harvey to say why was Rusyn dropped as his data was strong (for example) and Mowbray to give his reasons. Likewise we when talking tfrs there will be regular broad audience meetings and Mowbray will be able to ask questions about targets. That is a long way from Mowbray being handed a starting 11 before each match and told to take the matchday. I cant think of any head coach, anywhere, who would work in that setup. It is entirely counter productive.

It’s film-makers and the spoken media to blame, mate. How often do you hear a northern accent on tv? Watch any U.S. show where a character is supposed to be working class English. They all talk with a southern based accent. They genuinely think that is how all English people speak. The B.B.C is as guilty as any. Years ago they made a film about a true wartime incident where 2 geordies (sorry for the language) stole a boat and went to France to commit sabotage. Their accents were changed to slight Yorkshire because the beeb thought nobody would understand a geordie accent. And whose fault would that be? The southern based spoken-media who for years ignored the existence of anyone north of Yorkshire. Watch any film made during the war and the accents are either cringeingly ultra posh South, or working class London, with an occasional Yorkshire, Scottish or Welsh. Things are slowly changing possibly down to the soaps. I apologise in advance if I’ve offended anyone.

Mowbray is an emotional bloke so I’d imagine has mouthed off a bit as it’s gone wrong. People will have been blinded by flying jaffa cake crumbs during the process

I seriously doubt that managers or coaches take any notice of those sites, the majority of the mouthpieces are just wind up merchants or fans that don't go to the games anyway. Players should take no notice either.

Agreed mate. Absolutely. My point is more that I am fully behind him as he is our head coach and I will not be aiding with those who believe he is the second coming of Phil Parkinson

And if if was the case that Speakman was picking the team, why did he sign 4 strikers and then tell TM not to play them

With over a decade as a long distance exile my accent is shot to pieces. Having to speak clearer English, while learning French over there, I found myself using a different voice entirely.

When I came back for matches I'd slip straight back into my NE accent, or what's left of it. Sometimes things would become mixed up between the two and matters were worse if a NE mate/family came to visit, in France ...

... I'd end up in mixed company speaking 'clear English' to half the group and 'Durham' to the other half <doh>

If anyone didn't like it, and some didn't, they could just f**k off tbh.

Sorry Gordon, it really is a regional thing just as it is in the NE, l came north from Surrey. Was never picked up on not pronouncing th, as it was always f.
Now when l get pulled up, and that is quite often, l reply with "no th in Surrey," and then spell Surrey.
Surely if you understand what being said, is it really that bad?
