Correct. The absolute minimum for a young kid given a chance at a club like ours should be working your bollocks off, in matches and in training. This kid can't even get himself fit enough to last a training session. I'd be getting rid unless he commits to making some serious improvements immediately
He should have been signed for the u21 team. Giving him the No.9 shirt and making such a big deal of his signing was a joke - almost like Speakman was trying to kid everyone, including himself
Mario appeared to be one of their coaches favourites going by how many times i heard his name being shouted
I think I’d send burstow back too. He was given a fair chance and has offered next to nothing for me so far. Didn’t notice him tonight either. I’d stick with what we have on our books until January and look to strengthen up top in the window. Jobe starts there for me as it is
Interesting to see dack sitting in the holding role, obviously needs must with the line up, but he was very disciplined and kept things ticking over
I think the kid has ability but he's too raw. He needs games at a lower level to learn his trade. Right player at the wrong time.
I thought hemir played really well in the first half. Difficult to say what happened but the whole team struggled second half. The ball sticks to hemir and he brings others into the game well. I could see him turning into a firmino style forward eventually. Needs to develop his pressing and movement in the box, but both often are two of the last bits that young strikers develop.
Some of the lads that played tonight are off the pace, especially Hemir and Burstow, Hemir is our asset and has a long term contract so we should commit to improving him, he has the physical attributes to be a decent player we just need to get more work ethic into him and see where that takes us. Burtow on the other hand isn't our player and has flattered to deceive, I'd seriously consider sending him back to Chelsea in January unless we get a spate of injuries or something. Any combination of Rusyn, Mayenda and Hemir is more than enough in terms of numbers, especially considering we sometimes play with no striker at all. In an emergency we have Harry Gardiner who has been prolific for the u21s.
To be fair to Hemir mate, he put himself about tonight and held the ball up well. Well that's how I saw it
He seems to have been written off by some already. Usual suspects who seem to enjoy being negative or dismissive. He's not even been here a year yet and is a young boy. Give him a chance ffs
As i have said hes clearly not ready for the first team and yes he needs time and a lot of coaching. I'm not even sure the odd 20 minutes here and there in the first team would be great for his development at this stage in his career
I think some of his recent performances as a sub and for 21s have shown promise. I thought he looked good in the first half last night, held it up well, good touch, played with his head up. Looks like a player. He's clearly got work to do but some are being unfairly harsh on him.
Spot on. Hemir and some of the other young lads (Triantis, Bennette, etc) are just at the start of their careers. Some players make an impact at a young age like the Bellinghams but there are a lot who slowly develop into great / steady ones. There are too many short term judgements on our up and coming talent. Give them a chance, support them and see how they develop season by season. It might take 2 or 3 years and some loan stints before we see the best of some of them. The rewards for us and the club will be worth it.
I don't think TM hanging Hemir out to dry early doors has helped but now we have a new HC I hope it will re-invigorate him and we may well see him kick on and start to realise his potential.
Sounds like he's starting to get to grips with the physical side and the need to graft to earn his place. As you say Beale might be a better influence on him than Mowbray was, it's easy to believe.
If anyone thinks I'm writing Hemir off please go ahead and re-read my post for clarity. It is simply an assessment of where he is in his development compared with others in the squad and I think it's fair to say he is a little behind and needs more coaching.
