Did I tell you about the time I saw Southampton win 4-0 against Blackburn? It all started when I couldn't find a stream but then, around the tenth minute, I finally found one. It was pretty solid and the match was pretty fun to watch.

I actually dated a QPR fan for a bit in the late 90s. The late 90s were the best. I have loads of anecdotes about the 90s - but I think I need to stay on topic.

QPR are based in Shepherd's bush. Most shepherds keep sheep rather than bushes. This is a bit like having an area called Topiarist's Sheep.

The actual word for someone who does topiary is a topiarius. This is latin and means a keeper of places. It is the same etymology as Utopia - which actually means No Place.

I've seen quite a few QPR games but I can't really remember anything about any of them, I do remember we beat them 2-1 earlier this season as I was there. Edozie scored. Put money on him scoring again as he in good form!

On that day Jack Colback scored against us. The surname Colback is derived from the Old English word ceald, which means cold, and the Old Norse word bekkr, which means stream. We need to give them the cold shoulder again this weekend.

Anecdotally, I have a history of blurring the lines between facts and anecdotes.

Anyway, let's have a home performance away. Keep the width. Play with aggression. Play for 90 minutes.

    1-3 win.

Also anecdotally it's best not to let the truth get in the way of a good story, I never do believe me.
A return to the traditional 3-1 win will do nicely as will a clean sheet victory by loadsa goals.

3-1 and a clean sheet? That is some Dutch logic!

We should have won by more at home. I thought they were dreadful to be honest.

Hopefully we beat them by more away from home.

Iirc they actually caused us a few problems and had more clear cut chances than us.

They were very long ball, but yeah, a bit of a handful.

Anyway new manager now who apparently has them playing a much nicer style of football.

But yeah, let's just do our thing of not letting them have a kick of the ball, so they get all grumpy and go home for tea, and leave us with an empty net to score in.

Not watched a game there but was there to welcome Franny when he was doing his charity run to every premier league ground. Matt Le Tiss joined him for the last bit to the ground and they were greeted and taken into the ground for photos by no less than Charlie Austin.
Hoping for 3 points and another convincing performance.

Lasting memory for me was winning 1-4. 14/10/89. My son's first away game aged nine, pre match drinking in the BBC staff social club, thanks to a friend of a friend who had a good career with the Beeb..
Saints team ... Flowers. Dodd. Benali. Osman. Ruddock. Case. Cockerill. Le Tiss. Rideout. Shearer. Rod Wallace. Makes you wonder... Shearer. Le Tiss. Wallace2. The goal scorers. Slid back down the M3, both dreaming of more..

Took my mates son to QPR game at the Dell back in 19-canteen. Les Ferdinand was playing for them then. We were in the Family Stand right on the touch line.

The bloke in front of me was with his son and his language had been ****ing appalling the whole game. Late on Les is right near us and mis-controls a pass and as it goes out of play he stops at the touch line and says “****” under his breath. Matey in front of me starts wagging his finger at him and says “Oi, Ferdinand, less of the language in front of my son!”

Les, duly apologises to him. What a gent

Nice Match Day Thread loading, both football related and informative, especially the topiarius part.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that although you've had a successful run, up until now the style was a little predictable. A very slow build up and a lack of creativity. Readers had worked you out and knew what to expect. But as Saintmagic has pointed out, you have raised the tempo in the last few lines in order to reach a satisfactory conclusion when you had to. We all know you've got the talent and have it in you to do it for the whole thread as you showed against Blackburn. Now I'm confident these new tactics will ensure not just a winning formula but also an entertaining one.

Unlike tiggermaster's tale of triumph, my only visit to Loftus Road was to watch a 4-0 defeat in 1984. Our line up, although not as star studded as above still included Shilton, Mark Wright, Dave Armstrong, Nick Holmes, Steve Moran and Danny Wallace. So a pretty reasonable side and this was the season we finished runner up to Liverpool but they never got to grips with QPR's plastic pitch.

Well, it is an entertainment industry and I knew I could let the shackles off a little.

At the awards ceremony, will it be a red and white carpet? If it’s in Lundun, which away colours?
