On one hand he says he's willing to give young managers a chance and will forgive mistakes but he's not willing to forgive Jewell mistakes because he has experience despite the fact that he admit Jewell has had time out of the game and times have changed.

I think Jewell has learnt since he's been at town that to get out of this league you need to play good football with decent wingers.

He also gives Derby as an example and makes comparisons to what he was saying at this stage back then to what he is now. Derby sacked Jewell at this point and went nowhere. I say we should give him the chance to build as when he has been given time he's done well (Bradford and Wigan).

The author is so blinkered its unbelievable. There can be very good arguments made as to why Jewell should go but refering to that load of garbage (both article and TWTD in general) is just pointless.
If he had made an argument based on Jewell it would be fine but when you compare it with Keane then it falls down drastically
He would have kept Keane as jewell signed Ellington. Jewell signing Ellington could be argued as poor but compared with keane who got rid of a scorer, albeit a hit and miss one in Stead and signed Murphy and Healy, who were both terrible just loses the point.
He doesnt like Jewells formation, possibly another good argument but then you cant defend Keane who put out a team of 4 central defenders, 4 central midfielders and then complained about a lack of width and attacking instinct.
He moans about the inconsistancy of Jewells team and the amount of combinations we have used but Keane was worse then Jewell ever was at this.
He moans about the lack of chances given to Hyam and O Connor but both were (unfairly) out of the pitch before jewell arrived and both have (unfairly) not featured since he arrived as is the case with Peters.
He reviews Jewells team at Derby, as a team that should have been promoted on his arrival but which failed to win. THE SAME STORY COULD BE SAID OF ROY 'USELESS TOSSER' K**** FFS. We needed tinkering with, we got a sledgehammer.
Keane came here with a reputation of a manager who had spent £80m and walked at the first time that his vastly overpriced team got into trouble. He was, and still remains in my eye a cheque book manager and nothing more. I see no reason why he deserves more (or less) time, opportunity or support than Jewell or any other manager.
It seems a strange viewpoint that we, as a club, would potentially accept relegation under a young manager who wasted £20m on a learning curve, but not even half way through a season we should get rid of an experienced manager, who has us roughly mid table (2 wins and a draw from the play offs) who has spent next to nothing compared to his predecessor.

    I love the second comment

"Why didn't you write this blog whilst we were on our 6 game unbeaten run?"

This thread is the same as the one on TWTD. The author says one thing and then all of the people who reply shoot it down. Why bring our attention to a blog from some guy moaning a lot and not make mention of all the replies below it that in the main don't agree with him?

I simply thought that this would at least spark a genuine debate without resorting to the usual name calling. My views on Jewell's management have crystalized over the last couple of weeks. I want him out as soon as possible along with Clegg. Some people are still happy to give him time (why, I dont know) and others are hoping against hope that he will deliver the success we so desperately need. It is useful in a democracy to see what other fans are saying on other forums. I don't see whats wrong with that or do we now live in China?

You've summed it up perfectly. This is an awful article even if I was of the view that Jewell should go, its smacks to me like the standard clueless fickel football fan who isn't actually taking the situation into account. It sort of reminds me of debates people have about politics who have no idea about politics but are just cynical toward politians because certain things aren't quite working yet when you ask them whats wrong apart from the surface facts, they have no idea whats going on deeper. Like you say tractorbhoy there could be a constructive argument as to getting rid of Jewell, one which I disagree with but there are certainly some things which could be debated.

This is actually possible the worst article I have read, even if an article like this was written about Keane a few months into his tenure, even though I would have agreed with getting rid of the manager, the argument is so flawed is ridiculous!!!

And as ever JWM I don't quite understand the some of the points you make particularly they are frequently out of context, I get the point your trying to make with us being in a democracy but like this article is it really neccessary??

I will be happy to see Marcus Evans and his posse sell up and leave. Clegg should go. I think given time Jewell will do well as long as there is a blend of youth and experience. Judge the manager after 5-7 transfer windows. See who he signs and sells and how the squad develops. One thing is for sure we're short of leaders both on the pitch and off it!

Your thread is titled 'Please read this and then make up your minds!' which would suggest somebody has writen a concise, well thought out and well argued article that would be worthy of debate.
The fact you posted the link is not wrong but its nothing more than mad ramblings. I can not see one part of that article that makes me think either Jewell should stay or that he should go
The sad logic that he would be happy for us to be relegated after spending millions with a young manager but thinks an older manager should be sacked for no true reason is totally ludicris and the only thing I get from that article is the fact that Im glad fans dont have too much influence in how a club is run. He seems happy to accept that Keane could take us to Blue Square South (being dramatic but thats how stupid it is) but Jewell WHO IS ONLY 7 POINTS OF THE PLAY OFFS should be sacked with a 1/4 of the season gone. Its nothing short of toss.
We are majorly underperforming. Our experience, wages (14m a season for players) and our transfer budget means we SHOULD be in for a promotion push. I dont deny this and I can see that we have failings but its only 7 points FFS. The same club who stuck by Roy Keane during a 12 (was it 12?) match run without a win should turn round and sack a manager who is 7 points of a play off spot?
If we turn round and win the next 3 and are in the play offs by the new year should he still be sacked or is 5 matches without defeat enough for some fans to forgive?

Completely agree with your last point tractorbhoy.

JWM by you posting this article it hints toward the idea that you agree with it and I think you put it on here to further your argument, if its not I don't really know why you posted it.

I am starting to think that perhaps the problem isn't so much with the manager, but behind the scenes and more importantly with Clegg. They say the club needs to be run on a more business footing, where the hell is the sense to have a ground nearly 50% empty and no atmosphere. We have a trainee (in football terms) Chief exec who doesn't have a clue on what is needed to get the club promoted, all he is concerned about is balancing the books and if that means missing out on certain players than so be it.

This is a plea to club if anybody is reading, sort the pricing out to get fans in to support the team and get the enjoyment back in to going to watch footie, thus putting more money in the coffers to sign the players we need to get out of this poxy league. At the moment (and i never thought i'd say this) its a chore supporting ITFC.

Seems like it's getting a bit personal towards JWM, even if we all disagree just remember we all want what's best for ITFC - it's just a shame we don't all agree on what that is!

    <cheers> Wright

Yes we ALL want what is best for our beloved ITFC and I think its about time we starting asking these questions. The main arguement for keeping Jewell seems to be that we kept Keane for far longer than we should. If this is the case then why are we insisting that we repeat the same bloody mistakes all over again! Maybe I am in a minority but judging by the increasingly dwindling numbers going to games at Portman Road I will soon be with the majority!

My biggest frustration with jewell, is the shere blinkeredness of not changing the team/formation, and not giving youngsters, or anyone else a chance. He consistantly plays the same 11 (albeit one player amended if out injured) We need to grow as a team, and our youngsters need to play to get the experience under their belts. There is no point in not playing a youngster, then getting rid of him before he gets the chance. We need to start moulding the likes of Hyam, O'connor, Carson et al, into top quality players they look capable of being. Also, the sigings of Ellington, Bullard and Stockdale (and getting rid of a proven international in Fulop) smacks me of desperation and being clueless. It's said on here many times...OUR TEAM IS TOO OLD, AND TOO SLOW!! We're in a slight rut at the moment, so what do you do as a manger? You change the team, change the formation, breathe a little freshness into the team. You don't, week in and week out, play the same OLD players, in the same (not-working) formation. Mr jewell, if you are reading this, please start making some changes. Cut your losses and get rid of the deadwood in Leadbitter, Bullard, Kennedy, Healy, Ellington, Scotland, Ingimarsson, and even send Stockdale back, and get in fresh young legs from the lower leagues, who will be hungry to impress and further their abilities. It's not rocket science, if it's not working..change it. And it certaunly is not working at the moment.

Really, I cant see anything against JWM on here whatsoever. I have been critical of the post but if I have said anything that can be seen as derogatory to or about JWM then I am truly sorry. I think his choice of links does not add anything new or clear to the debate but no more than that.
