    "not trying to be funny"
Good job really, because it would have been a waste of effort.
For the record, no I'm not Manchester, I'm from Salford. Which is closer to Old Trafford than Manchester is anyway.

Wow, never heard that one before <doh>

Maybe for the same reason that Arsenal aren't called Islington Rovers, Chelsea aren't called Fulham Mk2, Citeh aren't called Bradford City, Bolton aren't called Horwich Wanderers, and you aren't called ****hole Utd.

Of course it could also be because we were founded in the City of Manchester, and both our first stadiums were in Manchester....

So most of our 300,000,000 or so fans live in Surrey? No wonder house prices are so high down there!

Roughly 5% of the world's population apparently. Obviously you can't class the majority as "supporters", more "followers". That's why it's ridiculous when people say "most United fans aren't even from Manchester". Well, duh

one in twenty people? I doubt 250,000,000 even follow.

I imagine it's got a lot to do with charity. Most Man U shirts get donated to charity, there are lots of strips, they get shipped and people become 'fans'. <ok>

Actually it's closer to 75,000,000. The 330 million is from some survey when they interviewed about 25,000 people all over the world and about 5-6% of them said they supported Man Utd. So from that they claimed that 5-6% of the world's population must support Utd. Deloitte, the same blokes who do the football money league, estimate we have around 75,000,000 actual fans, i.e. those who watch the games and buy merchandise, rather than those who tick our box on the survey. I used to work for them so I got to look at all the official stats.

Regardless, we're still the best supported club in Europe:

    and the most valuable:

That's still a big shirt donation.

That's not going to be for long re the % debt though is it. I'd imagine we'd have overtaken soon enough <ok>

Well you've gotta do your part for the poor. Arsenal donated a load of their shirts too. Best firelighters and toilet paper they ever had...

I think the debt is included in the total value - they're valuing the football teams, not the owner's equity. Just cos you take out a mortgage on your house, doesn't mean the house falls in value.

It's saying we have 41% debt and you 46% - We are paying ours back, you are adding to it or not paying it off. I mean in cash rich value, we shall overtake you soon.

I do understand the fundamentals of equity as well ta!

In terms of total equity, you're probably ahead of us already - that data's already a year old and I'm guessing most of your stadium debt has been paid off with 90%+ of the flats sold now. But given that our revenues have grown quite a bit faster than yours over the last four years, we may overhaul you on that measure again soon. Unless the Glazers go bankrupt... <doh>
