I think it was his coaching ability which impressed folk. The man management and tactics are what a lot of us are uneasy with.

I won’t be shouting for him to immediately get out of the club, and will give him a chance.

It’s just such an underwhelming appointment - very much in the Eustace bracket for me

QPR fans seem to think he played decent attacking football with the ball on the floor in a 4-2-3-1 formation. So there’s a good fit there.

My hope is he just had a bad time at rangers. And that Dodds is kept on as assistant head coach or similar, to help take care of the man management

But how much do we know of his man management really what’s out there? It’s not as if he’s been hounded from club after club I think there’s still very little info about him. He’s only had a season and a half of management and seemed to do relatively well on the pitch surely if his players hated him they’d down tools. He does look like a bit of a smarmy c*nt though :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I get the playing style concern, I’ve not seen enough of them to have any idea to be honest.. but how many of us were expecting the style of football we got from TM?

Right I’ve softened on it a bit now. Seen several QPR fans say he played good attacking football and the players loved him. Seems all the bad noise from them is (rightly) on how he left them, and his transfers (which ain’t a problem here).

Rangers hopefully we can write off as just having the wrong players.

Maybe allowing him to just focus on coaching will be the making of him.

Most important thing is he will be working with the other two Michael’s - Dodds and Procs

    Keep the faith lads.

I'm going to put a positive spin on this.

The guy will be coming to Sunderland with a point to prove after things went so badly at Rangers.

He's still relatively young for a head coach and it seems his actual coaching ability is not in question.

So let's see how he gets on and hope that the club has got the appointment right again.

    Tactics are what worries me.
At Rangers Beales teams often looked flat and devoid of ideas when things didnt go to plan. got the same comments Johnson and Mowbray got no plan B
Dodds has been a breath of fresh air with his flexibility and making subs that actually impact the game.
Lets hope they can work together. All is not lost We will see soon enough if he has learned from his last jobs.

This is 100% the type of appointment I would have expected under Donald. Its actually worse than Phil Parkinson.

Hopefully this experience of last two games means Dodds is more confident and Beale is more receptive than Mowbray was, of allowing Dodds to influence tactics
