Includes a nice little story about him and Patching having a bet on the cup game against Wolves. He says it was legal back then, which surprised me.
It does make you think about some of those past managerial decisions. I'm a bit jealous of Fulham, I think we could have had that with Silva if he hadn't had his head turned. I think maybe he's grown up a bit.
Mazzarri was nicknamed the Godfather by MOTD because of his suit and the way he strutted the management area with his arms folded and a look that said do not mess with me
You're right, I did mean Napoli! I think I just get Italian teams that play in blue mixed up in my mind!
Sadly suffered a brain tumour on the way to the play off final in 2006 but made a recovery after a 2nd scare . https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/sport/football/67630136.amp
Roy Hodgson sounds a bit fed up with modern football and he probably has a point . Although I did think Hughes had committed a foul in the build up to the penalty that Palace got chalked off . The red card was a classic case of one ref probably giving 2 yellow cards for offences another might have waved away or given a warning for. Its the inconsistency that grates people.
If our owners had invested in the right players at the right time he would still be our main man doing the same things for us I just hope our owners can see this AND learn from it
He is clearly enjoying life on the south coast, and so he should with the quality of players in the team. I am not certain that we have had so many good players in the club for several seasons now.
Unless we were in the Premier league and doing well doubt he would have stayed but does make you wonder...
I enjoy seeing him do well, and indeed seeing an unheralded club like Brighton having fun in Europe. But I can't deny there is some jealousy, and I think there is an alternative universe where the 2019/20 goes differently and we're in their position.
If that was the case we'd be leading the Premier league. Every purchase, just about, is a punt to some degree or other. And then what happens when they arrive is not guaranteed either. All sorts of issues can derail a player and thus a team. Almost every purchase ( last 4-5 years say) Manure have made looks good on paper - right quality, pedigree or experience. But look a t the mess they are in.
It's a bit like buying Real Estate. The art of the Real Estate agent is to make a property sound appealing & affordable to prospective buyers. The art of the Football Agent is almost identical. In most cases, both sell duds which need a lot of work...
