I don’t think Romano would tweet that we have a new “number 1 target” without knowing who that will be. Wouldn’t surprise me if there is just a lot of smoke and mirrors going on - and am inclined to agree with you here. Pure speculation, mind, but I think you’re probably right.
Like that read a lot. I like that he has a more direct style as I don’t think we are direct enough and could be more. Direct doesn’t need to be long balls (at least not in the way I’m terming it). But getting the ball from back to front quicker.
If it was a lot of direct passing along with sitting in a low block I would be concerned but being direct and pressing high is how I like football being played. Thinking of Klopps best Liverpool teams they are very direct.
suits Clarke and Roberts massively as well as they will get the ball quickly and the opposition won’t have time to double mark them.
Clarkes goal against Sheff Wed a perfect example, won the ball and Burstow with a great 'direct' pass and we're away.
Fabrizio has 19.3 million followers making the ‘North East’ reporters look the minnows they are 207.4k for Keith Downie, 99.2k for George Caulkin and 52.5k for Luke Edwards Fabrizio reigns over European footy by having excellent contacts and strong integrity, something sorely lacking in sports journalism these days. The people feeding him info know he won’t misrepresent or screw them over
yep. Loads of our goals this season have been when we’ve been able to play more direct within games. Our squad seems built for counter attacking and we have seemed to actively avoid counter attacking this season, instead relentlessly slowly recycling possession
Watching the under 18s now, they’re definitely playing a much more direct style than the first team have done. Perhaps this is/was one of the concerns.
Speed in transition is what we need! Similar style of football to what we play but much faster slicker passing. We dilly dally too much which allows defenders to pack the box...
Almost certainly in my opinion. In the Mowbray sacking announcement KLD’s comments were along the lines of wanting to implement a playing identity that our fans can engage in/relate to. I immediately thought that was a dig - Speakman in particular has talked a lot about what type of football best gets our crowd going and being very simplistic it’s a pretty up and at em approach. I’ve no idea if that’s Thellen or not (I did see someone describe him as boring) but it’s almost certainly the identity they want at the club. As you say, watching the u21/18s just further drives that home.
