Utd's attack will consist of Garnacho running free down our right and Antony doing a bit of Strictly out on their right.
Hojlund might get a couple of passes if he's lucky.

We know that Alisson, Trent, MacAllister, salah and vvd did not travel.

So 4 of those will certainly start on Sunday.

After that I really don't know who will actually really play v union.

Be interesting after the Palace game if klopp decides to start going Gomez RB with TAA Mac Szobo in midfield 3. Only downside is you’d lose some of that link up between TAA szobo and Salah on that right hand side but would allow us to be bit more solid on the RB area with Gomez playing more traditionally plus actually offering an option running wide.

The Daily Mail, the Guardian, the times... they're all always backing United.

    maybe.

but maybe gomez was enabled by Elliott freeing space as well. we've plenty of examples of gomez being very meh as well at rb. so your point on the players linking up is crucial

    alisson
    Gomez konate vvd tsimikas
    Szoboszlai trent gravenberch
    salah nunez diaz

it's fairly clear that front 3 will start.

it's fairly clear they've saved konate and gomez

it's fairly clear endo would be eaten alive by utd. if I saw an lfc side with his game on the sheet I'd have instructed by team to not press cbs quite as much and absolutely pile onto endo any time the ball goes near him.

JONES KNOWS BEST HAS PREDICTED HOME WIN 2:0

Liverpool vs Manchester United, Sunday 4.30pm, live on Sky Sports - PLAY SUPER 6 TO WIN £750,000!
please log in to view this image

Manchester United are 7/1 with Sky Bet to win a football match. How the mighty have fallen.

To be given just a 12.5 per cent probability chance of winning a Premier League game shows you just how bewilderingly bad United's underlying process is and how wretched their record away from home against elite opposition is under Erik ten Hag. Remember, United have taken just one point from their 11 Premier League away games vs top nine sides under this manager (D1 L10) and have conceded 34 goals in those matches. Staggering.

With Bruno Fernandes suspended, their most creative outlet, United's only hope of stifling Liverpool will be to turn this into a dog fight. Break up play, waste time, be organised in a block and hope all the big chances fall to Darwin Nunez rather than Mohamed Salah.

Ten Hag has shown he can utilise these tactics effectively, albeit usually against lesser opposition but the way Liverpool fumbled around against Palace's low block last weekend for 75 minutes remains firmly in my thoughts. It was the same when tasked with breaking down 10-man Everton at Anfield earlier this season with a lack of guile in midfield still hampering their assent. United are trusted to avoid a hammering.

Swimming against the market and backing under 3.5 goals at 10/11 with Sky Bet certainly is a runner if United can stay in the game early doors whilst taking a chance on the Liverpool to win 1-0 or 2-0 at 5/1 also stands out.

    SCORE PREDICTION: 2-0

CHRIS SUTTON HAS GONE FOR A COMFORTABLE HOME WIN TOO. 4:0
    Liverpool v Man Utd (16:30)
With the attacking players that Liverpool have got, I am absolutely certain that they will win. I honestly don't think United have a chance.

The injuries that defenders Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw suffered against Bayern are a blow for Erik ten Hag's side and, at the other end, they barely carry a threat.

United can only win by playing counter-attack but for that to work their forwards will need to offer far more than we've seen from them recently.

Maybe Antony will chop inside and bend one into the top corner this time, but I doubt it - he hasn't scored yet this season.

It is possible we will see some more brilliance from Alejandro Garnacho, and his pace could cause Liverpool problems down their right side.

But I don't really know whether Rasmus Hojlund is any good or not, because the service he gets is non-existent.

In United's midfield I've watched Sofyan Amrabat closely in the past couple of games - I was at Old Trafford to see them play Bournemouth and Bayern - and he is not a player who gets the ball on the half-turn and starts off passing moves.

Scott McTominay can nick a goal but it is not like you ever see him really getting into pockets of space and opening up teams.

Going forward, the combinations are just not there in the United team. They have only scored 18 goals in 16 league games this season, and they just don't carry a big enough threat.

United still haven't beaten anyone in the top half of the table, either. How can they win this game? There is just no way, unless some huge refereeing decisions go their way.

Liverpool are not just in the top half, they are a top team and they are in top spot - and they are going to spank them.

    Sutton's prediction: 4-0

Dobey on the title race: I think it's a four-way title race between Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa too. Because of what Leicester did in 2016, you can't count Villa out.

I had a look this week and Villa's next 11 league games give them a great chance of taking maximum points, based on current form anyway. I don't think they are going to drop away. I do have a few friends who are Villa fans though, so I'll get some stick if they do go on to win it!

Out of the four teams up there now, though, I would probably pick Liverpool to be champions. One way or another, they've just been getting results, with late goals if they've needed them. They've not being playing brilliantly, but they are just doing enough - if they can keep doing that, they will win it.

Dobey's prediction: This is the type of game where you think United will turn up, but after seeing them lose 3-0 at home to Bournemouth, I just can't see them stopping Liverpool at Anfield. 3-1

We're undoubtedly favourites for this game. But I think it's a mistake to totally underestimate them. They're in the top 6, with a lot of expensive talent, that,if they click (and surely they'll be motivated to click against us) can be quite dangerous.

We should win, but it's no foregone conclusion and foolhardy to treat them as chumps.

Yeah, pity really. He was probably disappointed to know he wouldn't start against Utd.

Got to admit, it does concern me with how much people are saying we'll win with ease, makes me uneasy...

I'm sure Klopp knows what he's doing with Elliott though, he's young and his time will come.

Elliott needs a platform to play off.

it think its that simple. he's an attacker really so he's not going to muck in and control and play make really.

he can come on in games and give energy but tonight he started beside a lad who only wanted to hold the ball and flick it about and another lad who's too slow and weak.

Jones was terrible tonight. absolutely awful.

endo isn't up to it. really isn't. roll on January

He's definitely a very good impact sub atm. He's still young and I'm sure he'll become a key player in time. He needs lots of movement around around to get the best out of him.

Nobody was interested in the game tonight- not on here, and not on the pitch (those in red anyway).
As ever there's no point in drawing conclusions from such a game - the attitude will be totally different on Sunday.
