How do you know? I haven't seen a covid test kit anywhere for must be a year now. Wouldn't even know where to go and get one.

They are on sale in most Chemists and many supermarkets for an extortionate price.

We had some test kits from a couple of years back. Feels like a mild cold.

Lol. In my defence, I only did the test cos the wife did one. And she only did one as she was going in for an Operation. It's all nonsense, and has been from the beginning.

So I guess we are broadly in agreement that investigations should continue and those in charge be held accountable. Holding those responsible accountable would see most of the wilder theories disappear, whereas not doing so, will see them flourish as ppl fail to understand why crimes and negligence go unpunished.

The shift of wealth that took place perhaps should be looked at, rather than dismissed as a conspiracy theory.

The Covid Inquiry isn't designed to hold anyone to account.
That's not in its Terms of Reference, so if anyone expects that they will be disappointed.
Also they may have forgotten they wanted that as well, given they still plan to be listening to evidence into 2026.

I agree the shift of wealth should be looked at, but I'm pretty sure it won't be apart from specific PPE purchasing from people clearly unfit to provide PPE (unlike ARCO who weren't used when they held PPE in stock and there was a shortage of PPE leading to NHS staff being unprotected, because they weren't on the Govt VIP lane...FFS!!!)

People need to stop this anti govt bullshit - Labour backed almost every decision, Labour in Wales went for longer and harder lockdowns, the SNP did the same in Scotland - the unions wanted the schools closed longer, there wasn't any pre arranged plan to deal with it because no one ever raised it including the opposition - most of what is coming out now is hindsight and political blaming - what needs to come out is lessons learned, what should we do if it happens again not about who had a party etc - in one breath it's should have locked down sooner in the next it's should have done what Sweden did and not locked down at all - when this first started no one had a clue what was coming our way, all we saw was reports from China and queues of people dying in Italy - anything after that point is a guessing game because the next one could be far more deadly, the same or milder and until we have the analysis you won't know which one is coming - hopefully the report comes out with some real actions that the country needs to consider and as a country we are much better prepared

    Depends what you're on about.

If you mean all the friends of the government who got massive contracts for PPE, testing etc then yes absolutely. Some pretty obvious corruption there which will hopefully be proven by the enquiry.

If you're on about a global conspiracy where the Jews take all our money by putting vaccines in us or something then that should absolutely be dismissed as a wild conspiracy theory.

They've been accused of different things by different sides, so I think it's an oversimplification to suggest that it's all unwarranted. The stuff around the contracts, PPE, etc is clearly a huge concern, and no opposition party can be blamed for that or tarred with the same brush. Likewise all this fighting to keep their WhatsApps private, and then the WhatsApps going missing when they're forced to hand them over, that's really dodgy whichever way you look at it and when the very top of your government is acting as dishonestly as that there are obviously major questions to answer. And again, that can't be levelled at opposition parties.

Sars and swine flu happened in recent times before. There were plans in place to protect citizens. They weren't followed. Of course ppl are blaming and asking questions of governments. How ridiculous to state that they should be unaccountable because they were unprepared.

    Labour/conservatives... What's the difference.

Recent posts have been deleted from this thread, others probably deserve to be, but it's obviously a topic that can't be discussed without some reference to the government and their actions. At the moment, only overtly party political comments and political comments that were nothing to do with COVID have been deleted (at least the ones I've seen, I've no time trawl back and see if there's stuff missed pages ago).

I'm not sure that last paragraph has been mentioned on this thread, apart from by those who wish to discourage any form of accountability and use it to dismiss all concerns.

Yes, PPE contracts on the micro scale. Also the worldwide shift of wealth from middle/poorer classes to the extreme rich (of all religions and races). Figures in the Guardian showed several trillion shifting into the asset value of several thousand over the pandemic period - is this a good thing.

In which case you'll be able to explain who the people are who are 'willing to do the government's bidding and shut down any dissent, block opinions or questioning', and also, more importantly, how they are doing it. If you don't think it is just people disagreeing with other people, then you'll be able to point to the evil and cunning methods they are using to shut down dissent etc.

It's a very bad thing, but it's what happens continuously all the time, not just during covid. Covid probably did bring some new opportunities to siphon more money off to the rich, such as with the PPE contracts and other stuff, but it's far from a new problem.

The shift of wealth that the Chinese prospered at the cost to the rest of the world of people and economies - pretty clever move - or lucky for them - hmmm
