morning all, thanks for the coffee Ak! Screwed up morning. I have a lesson on a Monday morning which i cancelled because my daughter had a hospital appointment, but she announced last night that she couldn't go because she had a controlled assessment for her GCSE's. Grrrr! So, no lesson, no hospital appointment. So i've rearranged it for 9am in the holidays, she'll not like getting up early but hey ho
Morning all... and as Frenchie has his class today he might understand: " Bonjour" The bad news at fawlty towers today as expected.... One of my course goes... which means at least half my team over the next three years... expected... but hard to take.... and to get it in an email .... not pleasant....
i'm so sorry Yorkie, that's rough news...and yep, not a great way to hear. Do you have to break it to the team?
morning Yorkie, that is naff. They should have had the decency to tell people face to face. I had to pass on similar news a couple of years ago, hated it but at least did it to their faces.
Look on the good side Yorkie, you are still with a job.... A smaller team and more worries but you are still at fawlty towers.
Sorry to hear you r news Yorkie - shameful way to tell people - I have both given and received that news - but always face to face
Does anyone still play this game : http://www.playforyourclub.com/league/championship I rediscovered it the other day, it's no less addictive now...darn it!
**** news Yorkie and a rubbish way to inform you and there is no need to use an email anyway. There would have been weeks of planning for this and there will have to be a consultation period with the individuals concerned, so they could have planned a meeting in plenty of time - just crap management and poor HR support.
****e news Yorkie. At least you were not the one who had to read the notice to your department that it was to lose heads; only to discover that this was (a political move) to satisfy head office and the department would lose only one, you.
yes.... all got the info. on an email! They say no redundancies.... but in my dept. we will lose about £270k in the first year.... means only one outcome... staff cuts... I have just recruited three new staff too this year This is likely to be a preoccupying theme for me for a while as i tend to work long hours in this tower block.... and of course... it might mean an early retirement for me which is a mixed blessing... so bear with me pls if I hack on about it
Is Sean Dyche, current manager of Watford FC, the same Sean Dyche who earnt his crust as a professional footballer, with his longest spell being with Chesterfield? Sean Dyche, current manager of Watford FC, sounds like he has been working in the pits all his life.
Dear all I would like to thanks everybody with their good wishes and advice about mu trapped nerve. It seems to be easing and last night actually got 4 hours sleep without it waking me (I think that's all Hornette gets any night). But I can at least use the mouse now so that's a step in the right direction - as was the win in Saturday. Once again thanks to you all.
Unfortunately it seems the way the world is going these days , hiring and firing by text and email!! I had to let a couple of quality youngsters go a few weeks back , but at least I told them and gave them the websites and contact emails that I have found useful in the past! It really sucked coz these guys passed their apprenticeship exams in the morning and got canned in the afternoon!
Ouch, that is harsh Norway.........congratulations, now get out!!! But at least you gave them some info to hopefully help them.
Very glad you're on the mend Charlie, and that you managed a good night's sleep last night ...actually i get four and a half hours at least!
