Joins straight after returning from Carlisle, I'd hoped he might step up to the Championship, but maybe we're moving him up too fast, he was only playing for Gateshead last season.

Defender James Tavernier has made his second loan move of the season, joining Sheffield Wednesday until 9th January, 2012.

Managed by former Magpies midfielder Gary Megson, the Owls are currently third in League One - two points off an automatic promotion place.

Tavernier, who turned 20 last month, has recently returned from a three-month spell in the same division with Carlisle.

He earned rave reviews for his displays at Brunton Park, with one of his best performances coming in a 3-2 win against the Owls in October.

In total, he played 17 times for the Cumbrian outfit, having spent part of last season in the Blue Square Bet Premier with Gateshead.

The Yorkshire-born full-back, who hails from Bradford, has made two appearances for Newcastle's first-team - both in the Carling Cup - as well as appearing several times on the bench towards the end of last season.

I reckon Pedro wants him to keep getting first team experience.

Big club shef wed. Especially for that division. A step up within the same division. Good luck to him. Will also get reports on him most weeks as my pal is a shef wed fan

Good club to go to. High end League One, pushing for promotion. Should be good for him.

Santon will be RB, seeing as we're after a new LB.

If we do sell Simpson it'll be Santon and a new left back next season, Raylor & Tavs covering both sides

I meant that come next season either way Simmo would have been back up and so now that he is going then Tavs will be his replacement

Hopefully in Jan if he continues his impressive form at Sheffield he'll move up to the Championship so then in the 2012-2013 season we'll have him ready to be a first-team squad player. <ok>

Looks like he'll be a starter. He's only there til Jan so could still play Championship football this season.

Im from Carlisle and a lot of mates are Carlisle fans and reckon hes too good for league 1.

Its a good move for confidence and provided he gets regular games its a good move for the lad and for us. It will enhance his repuation, his levels and possibly his value for sell on if he does not make it to first team levels.
