Mr Cleverly told the BBC the government was in the "final stages" of agreeing the new treaty with Rwanda.
When asked when flights would take off, the home secretary said: "We are working to make sure we can do that some time in the new year. We're keeping to the timescale we originally proposed."

WELL WELL WELL either a magical trick or SUELLA's time in office is not being wasted, if using her plans why sack her?

Mr Cleverly played down the possibility of the UK leaving the ECHR, which ensures human rights cases can be heard at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France.
The first Rwanda flight was scheduled to depart in June 2022 but was cancelled after an intervention from the European Court of Human Rights.

When asked if the government was prepared to leave the ECHR treaty, Mr Cleverly replied: "I don't believe that will be necessary. I believe we can act in accordance with international law and we are very determined to do that."

He did not deny having previously called the Rwanda policy "batshit", saying "I don't remember a conversation like that", and claiming the question was a Labour "trap". .........

seems he is another that was against something but gets a job to bre for it!!

    comment:
Amazing in less than 24 hours they have worked out a new treaty and got it to a point of "being signed" when the last one took month's maybe over a year! And before the judgement SB was stating it was likely to fail................

getting tough but not on the really needy things to get tough on .........................

    ..........
Benefit claimants who fail to find work for more than 18 months will have to undertake work experience placements, under rules planned for late next year.

If they refuse they will lose access to their benefits for a period, the government says.
But the charity Mind said the use of sanctions would worsen peoples' mental health. .. REALLY if I was out of work, first thing I would do is protect my mental health by having something to occupy my mind not make it go mental !
It is part of new plans to get people back to work, which will also see an extra £2.5bn spent on career support.
Under a plan that would need parliamentary approval, those solely eligible for the standard Universal Credit allowance who refuse to engage with job centre staff or accept work offered to them after six months will have their claims closed.
That means they will have to go through the application process again if they want to keep receiving benefits and lose access to extras such as free prescriptions and legal aid during that time.

Meanwhile, the number "inactive" due to long-term sickness or disability had risen by almost half a million since the pandemic to a record 2.6 million.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt said that many of these people wanted to work and that "with almost a million vacancies in the jobs market the opportunities are there".

Bristol City REQUEST FOR HELP in setting this years budget!!! ... never had one or seen one of these before!... is it a gentle cushion moment to prepare the population on just how much "sheeeite" the council is in! .. the first sentence starts .............

This year’s consultation is open against a backdrop of significant financial pressures being felt by everyone in the city and across the local government sector. We are carrying a substantial deficit and find ourselves in a cost of operating crisis.

not looked at it yet but I guess you could sum it up in just a few words sue the mayor for robbing us blind and ........

so the AUTUMN "pre budget" speech was quite intuitive.... a breath of fresh air after PMQ's!! .. KS really hasnt got a plan or anything to say ...... anyways, the speech ................

You really do have to compare it into the bigger picture! For me it doesnt give a lot I am one of the many [ on here, and everywhere ] who were the last to be on the retirement at 65 train! Those now retiring at the later age 67? have a basic pension of over £800 at present. From April next year I still wont be on a basic pension of £800 even after the 8.5% rise!

alcohol tax frozen... so I bet I still pay more for my pint in a years time ... ave I pay at the moment is £4.20p .... pre covid got 3 pints and change from a tenner!

the rest of it non applicable to me but gives a little respite with NI adjustment ............

one very funny comment, well 2 actually one was Hunt comparing himself to KS and KS going along with it till the punch line ... KS well and truly knocked off his perch! Other was with Rachel complimented her on the annual party speech she lapped it up ... punch line " our party conference was before yours ... good to see you are capable with copy and paste from my speech!"

I was looking for tentative "theme" bearing in mind GE next year [ lasts till 2029 ] and with a bit of digging found an article with a conclusion... the 5 year plan comes out at the end on par ... so it depends on us really to get to work and help make it work!

interesting article [CMA ] prices watch dog...one item...
    ......
But in the case of baby formula there are not many alternatives, and prices have risen by a quarter over the past two years.
New parents could make significant savings of £500 in the first year of a baby's life on baby formula by shopping around, the CMA added.
Cheaper formula still needs to follow rules on providing the nutrients babies need, it said.

They could save a lot more if they used their own supply which is superior! AND contains additional anti bodies that the mother passes on.
Read an article, a few years back and saw a similar one [ [without as much detail ] around during/post covid. [ anti bodies ]
the first one was a "in depth study" of something like 800? babies born [ over 2 year period ] and followed health wise till 14th birthday.
the 2 classes of main concern was breastfed or not and simply assessed took the pro rata % of health on about 6 everyday type illnesses .. breastfed for 9 months minimum v no breast feeding was a success for breast fed by quite a reasonable % over the non.
However and even I cant remember all the details of the other breakdowns of trends!!! .. but there was about 20 categories and at age 14 something like 80% had completed the full "census"

note. 800 MAYBE SLIGHTLY +/- and 6 illnesses/conditions might be more.

better get started on dressing my 3 brace pheasants than chat anymore whist the sun is shinning ..........

There are certain supermarket items that have rocketed and haven't fallen back that much but sizes of a lot of packs have either shrunk the contents, but the price has stayed the same.
I don't think the prices of these will ever revert to what they once were. The supermarkets and suppliers are on to a brilliant money spinner.
Examples that spring to my mind immediately are paper goods such as loo rolls and kitchen towels. Supermarkets have introduced double or longer rolls in the case of toilet roll, and changed the pack sizes on offer (to their benefit), but it's still around 80% - 100% or more expensive than it once was.
The price of branded Cat food is also still really high. I was paying about £3.20 for a box of 12 pouches about 2 years ago, now it's £5.50 or more is the norm and the major brands have also shrunk their ranges.

so far last week has been really crass overall.............. The enquiry ref COVID a lot of joined up inter related comments spewed forth .. Israel determined to fight to an "end game" palestinians are poor victims of their own in some cases making [ when they voted Hamas in as their rulers .. the military side was allowed to grow and soon became the influencing power .. and freedom fromIsrael was only a part!
Putrid well still keeps sending more and more citizens to their death's poorly armed/clothed in some cases and instead relies trying to use aerial tactics something like over a 1000 drones so far??? and a couple / few hundred ballistic/cruise missiles [ success rate of 4% I saw mentioned? ]
Rwanda and Bibby ship .... well the vote to by pass some of the proposed is being "encouraged to be passed" the first foot on the rung of the ladder so to speak ... it has a long way to go before being a statute with quite a few more readings in both houses!!! The suicide on the Bibby [ quite a few no number exactly known here ] illegal or otherwise potential legal immigrants do unfortunately take their own lives. This instance could maybe draw a few worms from the wood work !! "the I told you so brigade" Hopefully there will not be any excessive reactions to it and the "full investigation" gets to the truth!

I have been watching on I player Father mother son ....was a struggle in the first 4 episodes but getting quite tense as it draws to a close .....
seems to be a mish mash of scenario's to do with media control and other modern day problems with a fictional slant to it based on a almost believable???? sequence of events!

More leftie and woke nonsense from another devolved Government after the Sturgeon/SNP episodes.

The Welsh government are just as bad as their Scottish counterparts, as they wanted, like the SNP, people to be able to self identify and be able to change their gender at will, thus allowing men into womens only spaces, and the speed limit on all roads of 20 mph just proves what a blinkered bunch they are.

20mph imposed by the Senedd is nonsense I agree, but at least it hasn’t cost anywhere near £390m like some other unpopular measures being pushed through parliament at present.

amonst my many hobbies is one conected to what the sun does to our atmosphere and the propagation of radio waves!

Well we have just had the geminoids meteor shower [ an annual event ] that in the cloudless bits of skies showed up to 100 "streaks " an hour!

Well keep your eyes peeled over the next couple of days maybe for an aurora [ northern lights ] event tonight and maybe tomorrow as the sunspot 3514 threw out a massive flare on the 14th ... not quite directly at us but will certainly brush us. Along wit a few flares this sunspot discharged it could make for a medium to strong opportunity!

Living outside of the main city with less streetlights give best chance, if sky looks a bit pinkish / or green try a photo as that may show up better any activity ... strike time is likely to be after 2100 hours!

Amazing pictures [ BBC news page ] regarding Lake Garda landslip. likely a tourist helicopter in right place at right time. I travelled that route a couple of times in time about 2003 - 2007 an amazing drive through tunnels and avalanche shelters some joined up with spaces of daylight affording sudden views of the lake! SOME TUNNEL bits are well over a mile or so ............. [ try a street view based on Tremosine ,, ]
