Who else thinks it is the wrong tactic to play with a high defensive line as Terry doesn't have the pace to get back when the defensive line is exposed on the counter attack by oppositions fast pacey players like Suarez, Van Persie and Nani? Even Ashley Cole looks a lot slower getting back to defend this seems to do with his age though.

Journalists go on about David Luiz and even I agree that he is rash defensively much better as an attacking player. But against Arsenal he didn't even play and we still conceded 5 goals.

Apart from Lampard who is still scoring the spine of the team that has served so well in the last 7 years at Chelsea is weakening Petr Cech is conceding far too many goals which he could of saved. Terry is too slow and making mistakes. An example of this is against Arsenal when Terry tripped up trying to get back but Van Persie was too fast for him and the same thing nearly occurred against Liverpool when he tripped up against Bellamy. Drogba is at the end of his career now. This Chelsea team needs a revamp. AVB should play Sturridge, Romeu, McEachran and Bertrand more. Sturridge should play as a middle striker instead on the right wing.

Listen mate it's not the high pressing style that is undoing Chelsea its the basic mistakes that the players are making. Malouda passed behind Terry in the Arsenal game making RVP odds on to score even Shergar couldn't have turned and made up that distance <doh>

Also Mikel and Cech conspired between them to give the ball away just outside the penalty box in the centre of the park after everybody was pushing up. Why is Cech throwing the ball to a man whose being tightly marked? and Why is Mikel trying to beat him? All basic schoolboy stuff that pub sides seldom get wrong. Nothing to do with pace whatsoever.

That being said, a high line and no pace isn't going to work is it?

He is trying to play a pacy game with players that have relied on power for too long and have **** all in their legs.

He will be having to make a couple of brave decisions in the coming weeks, most notably around dropping some of those who have been our spine for so long and trying something new...

Romeu, Alex, Mereiles and Torres all fit into the style he is trying to play...

Agree with that SW6. Anyone see what Vinnie Jones said about Terry?

Yeah, he's right in the beginning. I could sort of understand Terry leaving if he went abroad to sort of get away from it all but I don't think he's the sort of person to run away from this, I reckon he'll stay.

Yep, I don't reckon Terry will go, but he needs to shape up as he doesn't have Carvalho next to him, or Alex at the moment and he is getting found out.

Who knows, let's wait and see!

I'm not writing them off but they need a ****ing rocket up their arses.

What's the point of developing McEachran and buying Romeu, Mereiles, Torres etc to still play the same players in a style that doesn't suit them?

He doesn't have to drop everyone, but a level of integration is called for, esp if he wants to get the results from his tactics.

I'm baffled as to why Romeu never plays any games. He's proved he's got the nuts to play in the Champions League and he's clearly been better than Mikel AND we seem to score more with him on the field! Agree about Josh aswell, even Carlo played him more than this!!

Agreed yet none of them played yesterday (barring late subs). At home and against weaker opposition I really don't see the need for someone like Mikel who offers very little going forward and in possession. Romeu or even Ramieres would surely be a lot better in that role??? Drogba looks shot at the moment so if you're not going to play Torres, then give Lukaku or Sturridge a go. Seems a lot like last year when a lot of players were playing badly but getting picked every week still.

Mistakes are costing us but the high line isn't helping and to say it's just mistake is perhaps burying heads in the sand. We don't have the pace at the back or the midfielders that can hold onto the ball well enough ala Barca IMO to play this exact system. Drop back 15 yards and mix up the team a bit.

Do we really think Romeu for instance isn't worth a punt or Josh against weaker teams to bring him on.

We've created a problem of relying on the same players for years and now they are getting to the end of their career we dont have the replacements ready. We have a really good exciting squad but the team is in bits at the moment. Very very worried for this season now especially with how other teams like City and Spurs and to a lesser extent, Liverpool are coming on. Top 4 is far from a certain and we have no chance of winning the league now.

True, but we shouldn't have been that far behind in the first place and we can't rely on it happening again.

I'd love to be proved wrong but very few teams have ever recovered being this far behind, playing this poorly and win the league. We've still got to play City and Spurs as well in this first half of the season who are both playing much better than us.

Anyway, I've always said the Carling Cup is the one to win!!

Agree 100% with ya on this mate, just like last season players are playing poor and still on the pitch or in the team, youngsters don't really have no fear and they will put 100% commitment in because they want to prove themselves and that's what they need, lamps got dropped and it kicked him right up the backside, if i was avb i'd play sturridge-lalkovic-lukaku up front josh romeu and ramires in midfield just to give everyone a kick up the ass, fair enough Lukaku from what i've seen of him has looked **** probably due to his age but at least his attitude is 100% perfect, everything his done his put 100% effort in, when things don't go drogbas way he just shrugs his shoulders and it pisses me off. Look at Man U, they let in 6 goals vs man city and since then they haven't conceded a goal, AVB seriously needs to get his message across and i don't see what he is seeing in this defence aswell because you don't have to be a genius to realise the 2 clean sheets we've kept Alex has played both games. This team really needs a kick up the ass
