Very true ... ... except one knacker five rows behind me who still thinks we should 'push out' and 'get the ball upfield!'
The morning after and still buzzin Interesting listening to their manager saying they controlled the game. Was like watching us the last few home games lots of possession where it doesn’t matter side to side passing and very few chances. There was only one team controlling the game last night Really didn’t think we had that in us but Dodds new otherwise Some great individual performances but for me specially shout out for Dan Neil he’s getting better and better worked his socks of and mopped everything up in midfield The clubs in a good place any new manager has so much to work with
Watch the opposition players. They knew James had kicked him. Not intentionally, but it’s a foul anyway. I was 11 rows back on line with it in the north stand. O’Nien made nothing of it though after the game. Dan James is an embarrassment to football on last night. The dive in the first half, where he moved himself 2 yards in a completely different direction to make contact with the defender, then roll about! They did that loads.
Said at HT it was like a game of chess, move and counter move and thankfully we came out on top. The question for me is we’ve looked so vulnerable at the back a lot this season so why haven’t we adopted this system even against some of the lesser teams. We still created the best chances and could have won by a more clear margin just like the Albion game. Was that all down to TM? Doddsy is first team coach, if he could see it straight away when taking over seems strange to me he couldn’t influence TM more as it might not have cost him his job. Just a thought.
Nice hearing someone else mention Bennette. Nobody better than him so far on the counter attack, TM had problems with his English seemingly.
I have always liked Farke so maybe I am too generous, but he always sounds nervous in interviews, give him credit his team play wonderful football , and we would have struggled last night without that game plan against them. I have watched both WBA and Leeds a lot this season, admittedly on TV and I honestly think both teams would have beaten us if TM had still been in charge. On that basis I will accept anyone the club appoint as the new Head Coach, but on this weeks evudence we may already have the new Potter onboard. OaU
He has been available in the past though and on the bench in games crying out for him , this season he has had 10 mins on the pitch, speaking from memory here, so may be out by a few minutes, but he obviously was never going to get a chance under TM injured or otherwise which was my take on his situation.
The guy behind me shouted out loud, “ the tactics aren’t working but we’ve had the best chances! “ he was furious. To me, that suggests that the tactics were working perfectly. Can’t believe some people’s views on being pragmatic in football to make sure you get the job done
Farke is okay, and he's doing a good job there. He just said the sort of things managers say when they're on the wrong end of it. He got a bit out smarted last night. He might have had a point about Clarke tugging that lad. But to be fair to the lad he kept running, so no decision to make. No doubt who deserved it last night, and it could have been more.
It's a mix really. Mind, I like to think I'm all reasonable and thoughtful at the match, but God alone knows what ****e I come out with!
so, had overnight to think/dwell on it which usually means finding problems...can't find any. never actually thought these young lads that we have watched constantly attacking had that display in the locker, that was a very mature performance last night and i am sticking pritchard and neil down as the 'glue' that kept it all together along with onien at the back. as for farks comments i suggest he does the same and watch it today as that was one of the best displays from the officials we have had in this league...do i agree with every decision, well of course i don't, but overall they were fair and consistent plus they tried to keep the game moving and on reflection they made the right calls.
This just demonstrates that a certain substrate of the population will just never be able to understand anything with the mildest form of complexity. Nationally mandated IQ tests where all the data is publically available and accessed easily. 87 IQ Jimmy shouting "the tactics aren't working but we've had the best chances" gets mocked for being an imbecile.
Looked solid last night but we did have a fairly defensive set up we need to transition that to when we set up with our preferred back 4. Need to be able to play our normal game against worse teams whilst not compromising our defence. Although if it is Will Still who comes in then that sideways football we play so often will be in the bin
