Yeah If I have watched this young team develop and the club is ready, of course I would want to see them tested in Premier League. Otherwise they would go anyway.
We could reach the playoffs this season by heavily investing (still reliant on getting rid of a lot of deadwood) in the winter transfer window. But even then I suspect there’s less than a 25% chance of coming top of the pile against some heavyweights.
I have said this before but if I was Acun, I would be targeting next season. The three teams coming down from premier league are likely to probably be as weak as any for a few seasons (though when you consider how Burnley ran away with the championship last season you realise the gulf). That gives us three transfer windows based on an increased turnover.

Beat me to it, next season is the real opportunity, as it'll be the weakest relegated clubs in some while. Another season of development in this squad, and a few dashes of quality on top and we should be in with a real chance at going up automatically. I said a while back that there should be no shame in seeing this as a development season and was shouted down, but I don't see how anyone can look at the points pace being set by Ipswich and Leicester, much less Leeds and Southampton, and call this season a more open season than most. It's as closed off as it's ever been.

If we get Delap in permanently then it's really only Morton from our 'best XI' that we're potentially losing in the summer (Twine too, though depending on how he's viewed he's not a huge loss), with perhaps Seri being moved on/edged out, so that's a great level of consistency in the squad to have.

He and Kent can sit at the back of training sessions with Seri, Traore, Allsop, Coyle and Christie.

Agree. If we stay in this division long term, we risk stagnation and investment withdrawing.

The PL, if you manage the yo-yo, is the only way we can grow and keep growing. It also massively benefits the Hull economy.

Right, which is why promotion is the stated long term aim, but in the context of where we are at this point in time, Acun, Ulker and anyone else who matter see 10th or above as progress for this season.

That's not to say they won't have a go in the January window though.

I agree if we do go up it might well take a few yoyos to stay there as well.

The owners know what's realistic. They ain't gonna be chucking their toys out of the pram if we're not in the pemier league this season or next.

Some fans believe we should eternally stay in the Championship as the PL is vulgar/immoral/rigged. Others are concerned about going up too quickly.

I agree with the plan you refer to, but also believe, as HT2 is saying, grab your opportunities whilst you can. We've seen many teams try and try and try for promotion, continually fail, then implode: Derby and Sheff Wed are good examples.

Whilst I don't disagree with the premise, I think the point I and some are making is that there isn't as much of a perceived opportunity this season as some seem to think, so why over-commit or go all in on this season (I suppose primarily in the form of expensive loan players who won't be here next season or older players who might only have 2-3 good seasons in them) when we should be looking to build and develop organically. I look at someone like Pelkas last season as a perfect example of someone we never should have pursued as he was never going to add anything long term and took up a chunk of the budget. I agree though that it should be chips in next season because if we don't go up next season there's a real risk/chance that investment starts to falter.

Oh, there's definitely no bad time to get promoted. If you're not ready you come down with a budget to really compete though.

Take it whenever you can. You wouldn't say it's too early to win a cup so why say that to win promotion?

The Premier league probably is all 3 vulgar/immoral/rigged but it's the best football league in the world and who wouldn't want to be a part of it?
And as someone alluded to earlier, the journey matters just as much as the destination.

But needing to factor in the mythical (or not) loss of form* and drop out of the top 6 by one team (after New Year) and the other near mythical team on a run of form out of nowhere into the top six...

Hopefully the West Yorkshire * Farkers...

That the business plan they're implementing is so heavily focused on player development, right down to feeder clubs and south American kids who couldn't qualify for a work permit when signed - I don't see the business plan as a short term cut and run if we don't go up in 2 years.

Yup. Sunderland turned 'em over tonight I noticed.

Went above us in doing so, but every cloud eh...?!!

That's the problem. Teams so closely bunched around us taking points off each other then the points are still going to one bloody rival or another.

It's why I contend that the leagues not as' open' as it seems.

I could see WBA dropping down, they have a lot of financial issues, which means in theory two play off spots to aim for, but with Sunderland picking up and potentially Boro, it's not going to be easy by any stretch to make the play offs let alone stand a chance in them.

Building a Squad over a period of time with Talented young players who could possibly give us some of their best years after settling in with the current players who are happy here is a pretty good way to go, i suspect players like Delap,Morton,Twine have already been spoken to about committing their future to this club and i would not be surprised if they were interested in permanent deals.

As for Morton that could be difficult it would be nice but i suspect the only hope we have is that the players which are young as well keep on form so klopp is interested in having discussions with the club even if it is another loan, we also have the like of Aydinlik,Vaughan,Covil,Furlong and Celi who is due back in Jan, i think at some point these players will start to get introduced to the first team to gain experience for next season if that is the clubs aim.

Also we have youth coming through in Sandat,Sellers-Fleming,Palit and Hall which is great for the club and supporters it's an exciting time for everyone we don't need to push so hard to try make it this season we might break it instead we now have a great Owner and Manager great players and fan fav players it's all good for next season.

So adding another 1 or 2 players like Kent,Bird,Zajc and also Blackett-Taylor would really make this a more exciting squad then it is already becoming and they still have 2 windows before next season to bring the players they want in.

also we have to consider how promotion would ultimately effect the players we want to keep like Delap,Morton,Twine,Philogene if we went up and we got thumped week in and week out because they are not totally ready for the huge jump in class considering their own clubs did not think they were either or they would not be here with us.

Another season playing together can make a massive difference.

You mean the business plan from the owner who bought and sold an Irish club in the space of about 8 months?
