They win from 1-0 down even more often than we don't win from 1-0 up. It's what they do, and it's very impressive. I'm not overly fussed about whether Sunderland hang on. It just increases the chances of us having to beat Leeds in the play-offs. But jeez Sunderland have been good, they so deserve this. Throw whatever money at them they want for Clarke next month.
True. I guess at this stage our main goal has to be keeping the gap between us and 7th as big as possible while hoping the top two slip up.
Says a lot about Mowbray that they've improved after he's left. And apparently he was on our shortlist along with RM (according to rumours).
Wesley ****ing Hoedt… of course https://twitter.com/skyfootball/status/1734687275186065471?s=46&t=f0hgNyKSvvOD5qjGLJhsXQ
Absolutely. West Brom and Sunderland both look a solid bet for the playoffs. No one else has really impressed me. Boro maybe if Carrick works the window like he did last season.
Their results have improved, absolutely. But their style of football looks very similar to me. Very positive, very attractive.
The current members of the top six are who I thought would be there before the season, but certainly not in this order. I expect it will change over the course of the second half of the season. But I wouldn't be surprised if the four teams currently in the play-off places are the same four teams who finish there. (And if so, that would be a very impressive looking set of play-offs team. No mugs.)
Their fans seemed to complain a lot that Mowbray's style doesn't provide enough chances for the striker. Something we can relate to.
We couldn’t beat Rotherham, Huddersfield, Watford. We lost to Sunderland and Boro. All games we should or could have won. Don’t complain about Ipswich, Leeds and Leicester. Saints just arent very good at scoring enough goals. Even if we got to the playoffs, we won’t score enough goals to beat the opposition. Saints are too slow to disrupt opponents and let them back into every game.
It was in the script. Watched it in my local social club and we all groaned and said, 'it had to be him!' failing to make the tackle. Ah well, we move on!!
It's a bit dramatic but I think he's got a point on the not scoring enough goals part. That's the main difference between us and Ipswich aa it stands imo. I don't see them dropping off enough for us to catch them now personally, even on our long unbeaten run we've barely made any ground up on them and they've dropped points during that time too. It would take an utterly ridiculous run from us to get an automatic position from here. Talking club record stuff.
Agreed, I do understand the criticism of not scoring enough and failing to finish teams off. That's understandable. What I don't understand is the total negativity of that post when we're on a 12 match unbeaten run (winning 8 of those) and going at nearly 2 points a game over the season. If it wasn't for Ipswich being far, far better than anyone could have imagined we'd be banging on the door of the automatic promotion places.
