I see from the BBC Sport website that Andy O'Brien has been told he'll never play for TWS again whilst Grayson is in charge.

Do people think he may be worth a punt in January as cover for Hobbs and Chester?

I always thought he was a steady player for Bolton although he has apparently been heckled by TWS supporters this season. He did tell Grayson that he never wanted to play for them again - so he does have a sensible head on his shoulders

Although he's now a hero I think Macca is ample cover.

Agreed, think O'Brien would be a waste of wages

Full backs are sorted but I'm not too sure about centre backs. If Rosie was injured/banned, Macca would fill in a right back and we'd have no central cover except Bradley. I reckon we need a covering CB, I would say Cooper but he needs first team football.

Actually, come to think of it, isn't Bradley out on loan in Sweden or something? Or was that last season?

I'd be concerned if we got an injury or suspension to Hobbs and/or Chester and we had to bring in McShane as I think he's a liability.

I've not been keeping up with what's happening at Sunderland. I take it a certain MT isn't playing?? :bandit:

Edit - or are you talking about Kilgallon?

I was talking about Kilgallon, but it's no longer really a serious suggestion, I now just suggest it weekly for comedy value.

Turner's now back from injury, he's played in the last six games for Sunderland.

I've watched O'Brien a couple of times, mostly last season when he was on loan at Leeds, and he isn't a great defender. McShane and Cooper are both better.

McShane for me is OK if he is played at centre back, but at right back he is a bit of a liability.

I wonder what Macac has to do to not get constantly slated every week, even though he's not even getting on the pitch :s. He always plays his heart out in the shirt, which is a lot more than other players in the past have done.

There's a reason he was booed. None of us will be sad to see him go. Threw his toys out of the pram because he wasn't playing even though Larry gave the useless bag of ****e chance after chance and was constantly backing him in the press.

He's hardly been slated every week, he's barely even mentioned nowadays and when he is, it's usually to say that he's good enough to be cover at this level.

The fact is that he'll be gone if anyone comes in for him in the next eighteen months, as he's on at least twice what he's worth, but there's no problem with having him on the bench. With him and Dawson we have two back up defenders, lose one and we look light, lose two and we have no cover at all, other than Bradley or East, who haven't played a single game at this level. If we have serious aspirations of promotion, that's a dangerous position to be in.

Is O'Brien the player that scored two own goals in one of your matches last season? The Leeds fans that I know and have spoke to have said the same as you on him and going by their word he's not a player i'd like to see play for us.
