Good luck to one of the forums syndicate horse at Hexam tomorrow. Hopefully not as brutal as Ffos Lass today. Home safe.
5.30 Kempton-Newsreader First run and been gelded, but know stable liked the horse in the summer Each Way...currently 18-1
Dundalk 16.45 Perretti. B365 have this Lope de Vega colt (out of a Camelot mare) at 9/4. If those odds are actually available he looks the way to go. Joseph Patrick O'Brien has 2 others in the race, the most interesting of which is Puturhandstogether, bay gelding by Caravaggio out of a Galileo mare. He seems to have been given the gentlest of introductions in heavy ground at the Curragh on debut and I suspect has a better chance than his odds of 14/1 might suggest
Heavy going again seems the order of the day, which can make selecting a winner a bit tough. So, just for interest, and as I'm late posting as usual, will try the finalé at Hexham (15:20), a Class-5 Handicap Hurdle over an extended 2m7f on heavy ground. The Sholokhov gelding, Velasco, seems to have a bit of class in this event, but does have it all to do giving a fair old bit of weight to the bottom two runners. Wears tongue-strap and cheek-pieces. Nathan Moscrop on board for the Susan Corbett yard. 7/2 (Coral/Unibet) best price at time of writing.
Get in you Danser. Nice win men. Did it beautifully. Hopefully horse comes away in good health and enjoy your celebrations. Fair play.
He's very nimble at his hurdles. Not watched a replay but In real time I felt it was the winning of the race today for him. Couldn't believe he had drifted from 7/4? when I first checked, out to 7/2. He was the one to beat in the form book after yesterday's results.
Having watched the replay I have to agree - he was very fluent at the hurdles and as gill says above, finished with plenty left in the tank it seemed. Has to be a Pertemps Qualifier next
Poor again. All I can say is he could have been laid off for a profit. Can't even claim that Puturhandstogether outran his odds in finishing 6th of 13, since all those that finished behind him were bigger prices
The 7.30 at Kempton is a really intriguing race. I was tempted to back the Irish horse, Elegant Man, this morning at 11/1 ( now backed down to 6/1) . He won a maiden impressively on his first appearance on the poly track at Dundalk. His sire was a proven US dirt performer. And he was solidly backed that day too. However, he is up against a triple Group 1 winner, Rebel’s Romance; his stablemate, Goldspur, who ran Westover to a length on his last run, albeit 20 months ago; and a Group Three performer in Max Vega. I wonder what other members think of this race? I’ve missed the boat on Elegant Man but I’m clueless when comparing proven class turf horses with polytrack opponents.
