    Sunderland v Leeds Utd

    12th December@20:00hrs | Stadium of Light

Leeds go in search of their sixth win in seven games, as they head up to Wearside on Tuesday evening to play Managerless Sunderland.

Having reached the dizzy heights of the play offs last season, much was expected from Tony Mowbray's team, but with eight points from ten games, the decision was made to end his tenure, after just thirteen months in charge. It may have been the shot in the arm they needed; having got back to winning ways at the weekend by beating fellow play-off hopefuls West Brom.

Three and a half years after leaving Elland Road, Jack Clarke will relish coming face to face with his boyhood club. Now 23, the versatile forward has been in fantastic form, netting ten times, notching up six man-of-the-match awards and topping the 'WhoScored' ratings with an average 7.65.

No too far down the Sunderland pecking order is another former Leeds academy prospect, with a very similar upbringing. Niall Huggins left the Whites in the Summer of 2021 in search of first team football. He joined the Mackems on a free transfer, and two years later has become an essential part of their defensive set up.

Huggins and Clarke were both raised in York, and played for Heworth before joining the Leeds Utd Academy together in 2009. Leeds raised £10m from the sale of Jack Clarke to Spurs. Although Leeds didn't get a fee for Huggins, they do have a healthy sell-on fee.

Leeds will be without Junior Firpo (hamstring), Stuart Dallas (leg), Patrick Bamford (sick), Ian Poveda (International duty), Luke Ayling (knee) and Sam Byram (hamstring). Dennis Cirkin, Jay Matete & Jewison Bennette remain sidelined for the home side.

In 93 past meetings, Leeds have won 40, with 34 going the way of Sunderland. Whilst the 1973 FA Cup final will always haunt Whites fans, another three points on Tuesday evening will go a long way to soften the boy, especially if the top two drop points.

Take 25% of the chances we create and we can win 3-0 ;)

Not so much a banana skin but more a full blown oil slick this one.

Expect nothing and then you won't be disappointed <ok>

I just think that we are due a bit of bad luck and it wouldn't suprise me if we came away with nothing here.

Great if they don’t do the same… one of the few sides who have more shots per game than us.

crazy they sacked the manager - they’re definitely a top 6 side, statistically top 3, play some really good football.

Should be a really good game and a cracking atmosphere with 40k there.

Ipswich have a tough match at Watford as well.

Could be a good one to win if we can come away with the 3 points.

Have a horrible feeling we’ll be looking at the exact opposite. Ipswich look like a juggernaut at the moment. Thought Boro would do us a favour but clearly Ipswich are in for the long haul.

Ipswich are definitely achieving unbelievable results, but having watched them several times this season there's the possibility when the fixtures are reversed they'll find it more difficult to keep winning. Whilst they're a good and well organised team, with loads of confidence and believe, I'm still not convinced they're the real deal like Leicester are.

However, we also have to keep winning, so it's entirely possible that we both drop off and Southampton nip in for 2nd spot.

Can’t remember where the story came from, a good while back, about Cry Summerville being a bad egg. Having just listened to this week’s United podcast, nothing could seemingly be further from the truth. Seems a great kid, a really terrific character. MOT

Quite emu. Sorted out his attitude and made an inspirational move to inverted winger - amongst all those pages of vitriol about playing him on the wrong side

Think of all those accolades given to Bielsa for turning Phillips into a dm - which let’s be honest stevie wonder could have worked out - as he was far too slow to play anywhere else.

So one forced change and which side will Archie play on. Nobody gets a rest under FARKE let’s hope we don’t need matchfit players to stand in when needed.

Probably our best available 11 I can’t agree about resting players Doc. If Farke did that and we lost all hell would break loose
