Remind me, are we still pretending that "From the river to the sea" is a call to commit genocide? Because if we are...

I agree with a lot of that, unfortunately there are millions on both sides who are innocent victims.

Regarding the vote I appreciate what you're saying. My natural thought is that if it meant nothing, then why would the U.S. vote against it?

So I try to think it through, what would the outcome be if they hadn't voted against it (even if they'd abstained).

It would've meant they could no longer have publicly supported or defended Israel continuing the war.

It would've had a significant impact on Israel trying to justify its continuation. From there you end up in a position where the U.S. would also have to push Israel for a ceasefire or a curtailing of the timeframe to end the conflict.

I'm guessing that those in the U.N. who were pushing for the vote would've been looking for this outcome.

The US always votes against UN resolutions on Israel. They also vote against UN resolutions in general.
Changing that in this situation could've been disastrous.
The evangelical lobby and pro-Israel lobby would've turned it into a massive ****show.

Michelle Mone wants to set the story straight , so she sells it to the Tory rag the Telegraph, the only way I want her to do it is from the dock in the Old Bailey

She claims that she's being made a scapegoat, but doesn't deny any of it.

The absolute state of the Tory party.

I may have been politically opposed to conservatives in the past, but at least they used to have some stature, dignity and respectability about them. It's like a kindergarten clown party atm.

They've always been ****, but at least they pretended to have some standards.
The right wing appears to have gone all in on populist, weird haired ****ers across the world.

Well I just posted this on the PL board so might as well share it here...

I'm trying to get my head around all the different factions of the Tory party that currently exist, and who will be fighting it out over this Rwanda bill.

We have those in the Cabinet leading the government line of course.
Then we have the ERG headed by sexual predator Mark Francois.
We have the 'Common Sense' group <laugh>
And the One Nation Conservatives who probably are the most sane within the party.
Then there's the New Conservatives which includes the font of wisdom, Lee Anderthal.
Who can forget, or remember, the No Turning Back group headed by John Redwood, aka Mr Personality.
And finally <----I say this with hope more than anything, the Northern Research Group.

It is believed all these wonderous groups will be thrown into a wrestling ring to fight it out while a revised version of Two Tribes by Frankie Goes to Hollywood blares out in the background.

Don't worry, there's only six more leadership changes until the next election.
    Three of them are Boris.

They wouldn't get past the first attempt. I think the country as a whole wouldn't stand for another tory leadership change.

Also I can see Rishi doing a Major with a back me or sack me type threat of calling a GE.

I think if they don't have the numbers then yeh that could be it tomorrow.

There are two meetings going on right now in the backrooms of the HOC.

One for the One Nation tories claiming the bill goes too far, and in another room, a collective of right-wing factions saying the bill doesn't go far enough.
