The points you and 'The Athletic' make are good ones mate, but given our higher attendances and based on average seat prices of £25 for example, 62% of 40,000 tickets sold per game = £620,000, whereas 115% of 24,000 tickets sold per game = £690,000. So, there's only really around 10% difference, assuming other costs are similar, of course.

Supposing he does take the head coaches job on but then, after a run of games where it goes horribly pear shaped he has not managed to improve the results? . What happens then when he is told "its not working"?

Does he head back to the confines of the coaching staff ?. I very much doubt he could do or even want to, when he was already under pressure from hypothetically poor results. Or will he have to walk as other have done in the past, this despite being Speakmans link with the dressing room? I suspect it would not go down to well with players or other coaching staff already in bringing back a failure once again overseeing the first team squad? What next, Proctor in charge?

Not for me if they really value his input in the coaching system

Absolutely mate. I suspect our playing wage bill wont be much behind Ipswich, if not more now with out summer business. I guess it is just a perception thing, for some possibly, thinking one club is having a go financially. I really dont want us spending 80 or 85% of turnover, let alone 100% plus, it is the road to ruin. Just pondering what that means to people who have a CV to build. I suspect for the sort of young coaches, like Hellberg, it means next to nothing tbh. Any coach worth their salt will back themselves to do a great job with the players here I am sure.

Oh defo mate but I think at the minute there’s quite a big difference between what we’re spending and throwing too much money at players. Don’t want to end up like a Stoke for arguments sake and think it leaves us in a good position when negotiating new contracts for players performing.

It wasn't a great situation but I feel like if it wasn't Roy Keane and he wasn't smirking while being asked the question on ITV i'm not sure it would've been made out to be as bad as it was made out.

Absolutely. We've been down that road before and could easily have gone under. Our approach now is more prudent and measured. We're in good hands.

I didn't think I'd see a day where we were linked with managers that not many people have a clue who they were and were excited about them potentially coming. I'm not being funny to anyone there, be it fan or new "coach".

I could see a situation where the top target will be available at the end of the season and there’s a need to see out the second half of the season with Dodds or another caretaker to make sure we don’t lose out in the long term. If that’s the case and the long term appointment is the top man then I wouldn’t be too arsed.

It may well be Dodds but I doubt we’re that incompetent to give it to someone based on two results.

That would be very much a knee jerk reaction which goes completely against what I would expect from our owners.

    So probably nailed on :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I'll not hear a bad work spoken about Keano. Absolute legend, did great for us as manager and as a player and a captain he's my first pick in my all time prem 11. I'll admit I was amazed that we were after him in this case though...I would love to be in the room when KS tried to 'advise' him about ANYTHING :emoticon-0104-surpr Car crash waiting to happen.
