I think there has been a clear (and obvious :)) change in opinion from a lot of influential people of late, so hoping we get some big changes more in line with the game we all love.

I personally would like var used simply for checking offside on every goal, that’s it. And maybe the 1 in 1000 scenario that someone’s punched someone or something and it’s gone unnoticed.

Just let the ref make the calls on everything else.

ah i think the problem is that you are operating under the assumption that Cascarino "thinks" .

And if things are wiped off, didn't that gives players a brief free period to do whatever they like?

i've seen a foreign game where a goal had been scored which was then wiped out and a pen given to the opposition .Saw a game here where it should probably have happened and didn't which just looked like var decided not to upset the applecart as the goal was for the home team .

apparently they would be able to chalk off a goal scored and award the pen but if someone kicked off after the goal before the review then they could not review.

say for example palace robbed the ball in the middle and ran in and scored they could be called back to lose the goal.and have a pen. its a system set up to fail.

Did anyone see the 30seconds analysis on our game by motd?

It was interesting how they just showed what elliott was doing to aid the situation positionally.

They showed 2 positions where it was in effect 3 v 3 but elliott came in and added the body to make an overload so we could then give their defenders an issue of who to pick up. One was his goal but another got gomez in behind.

We played in front all day long yesterday. I found it interesting to see how that movement (not even what he did with the ball) was enough to prevent palace players form getting tight and forcing us the turn round and go back out.

We refused to try 1 on 1s out wide all day but when it becomes a 2 on 1 then we could get down the line and turn them. NExt thing they can't get out and pressure builds.

    Interesting.

Just thinking that if the ref misses a clear foul in the box, the player that committed it knows VAR will probably overturn it so he could theoretically go and kick the **** out of someone knowing the game will be taken back and all incidents in the interim erased

Think like anything. Violent conduct can be given at any point so if go 2 foot someone it’s a red no matter what happens.

Truth be told, we've actually been pretty terrible this season, we've had a bit of "luck" if you like with some results, and yet we're top after 16 games.

God help the rest of the league when things start to click!

Well we've played in patches but I do think there's a level of tiredness at play now.

szoboszlai looks like the step up in expectation and energy has caught up to him a bit.

salah looks done in to me.

macalliaters has 7 shades kicked out of him and looks tired as well.

our results at home have been solid. our results against the bottom half have been solid bar that poor show v Luton

we've shown fight with refs acting the **** and dug in well.

the stats show we've played more of the away games against top half but overall have played more of the easier games.

the next 4 are a big test.

3 home massive games with utd, arsenal and Newcastle and a not to be ignored relegation dog fighter in burnely away.

imo this will be the moment now. everyone is tired, everyone is getting injuries. w have the home crowd behind us so if we can deliver then it will set us up.

    Most goals scored... 2nd
    Fewest goals conceded... joint 1st
    Goal difference... 1st

    And of course,
    Most points won... 1st

Not bad for a pretty terrible team.
