In fairness I think Nige’s hands were tied financially by the owner/chairman If he’d had free reign with the money rather than having to buy bargain basement L1 players it might have been a very different story
Attracting a top rated manager who could possibly bring in willing players to bring us up to sustainability in the Championship will never happen under the Lansdown ownership. We have had more than enough statements regarding the intent for Bristol City's future that it has become boring and very tiresome for us lifers almost to the point of exhaustion. The performance today was about as typical as it gets but we can't break down that next barrier to growth with the attitudes that are foremost within the halls of Ashton Gate. I wish Liam all the best but he has a dark road ahead of him if he wants to gain the support of the people that mater, and that's us, because with what was on display today it could be impossible for him to overcome his lack of experience at this level. Good luck to all who sail in her.
He knew this the day he walked in to the club, it’s the reason SL went after him, as he believed he was the man to do the job with all his experience, while reducing the wage bill. You can’t now say that was what held him back, it was literally his brief….
Are Huddersfield poor, did they make us look better than we are....... who knows. But we looked far better than them and we looked organised. Didn't look in any danger 2nd half (we didn't 1st half till that mistake) and looked as though there'd be only one winner but for poor judgement final 3rd. Our trouble is player quality....... we don't have enough of it.
Possibly but I’m sure he hoped that in time having sold tens of millions of our quality that he might be allowed to bring in better than he did
Have I missed Christmas and New Year? I thought you was giving him till January but you slowly whipping up reasons to get rid now.
It harks back to the days when we were saying that all we needed was a midfield general to boss the game and show the youngsters how it's done. As far as I can remember that type of player has never arrived, or at least hung around long enough to be the cornerstone on which we move forward. Constantly selling our best players and replacing them with the cheapest options available will never get the job supposedly put forward by our owner completed. The answer is out there somewhere but someone has to take the task on and then tell you know who that he can either support them or they will exit stage left. What is the point of employing a new coach and then strangling them to death behind the bike shed? Same old sh*te, different day and manager.
Nope just saying it as it is points to games is poor with the same players Nige had. Giving him until end of Jan. I really hope he comes good but so far I’m not so sure. He needs three signings in the window. I would not have got Nige gone but the owners wanted him gone and we have to hope he can fill Niges boots.
With your comments anyone would think Nige had us top notch performing on the verge of promotion........Far bloody from it..
To put a bit into perspective for you. Nige was here this season for 7 home games. He won one more game than LM has at home. In case you’re confused LM has played twice at home this season. But don’t worry, you will say Flemings should be classed as Nige’s as well to try and wiggle out a bit.
Watched the highlights on Sky - we seemed to be playing quite well (from the clips shown) and Huddersfield seemed to score against the run of play. If we keep playing that way we’ll win games - that is unless the highlights are very selective. https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...town-1-1-bristol-city-championship-highlights
Their game was to sit back, let us come onto them and catch us on the break, so obviously we had a lot of possession. We did create quite a lot of chances, if we were a bit better in the final third we’d have won heavily.
I also think if it wasn't for medical reasons he should have been given more time..but you are making it out we were doing well...we were and still are very average
We were average under NP but with a below average squad. We have mostly league one quality players and inexperienced kids alongside a host of injuries. When your brightest talent is shipped out at the first sniff of interest, what were people expecting of him exactly? This is a relentless division this year. Every other team barring 4 others, have all played in the premier league. And every team above us currently, are vastly better and more equipped than us to compete for top 6. We will stay up because there are 5/6 teams way worse than us. Huddersfield is one of those teams, and we had very little to offer in the final third to beat them. NP’s gone. His performances weren’t great. His calibre of players was worse than the standard of football we were playing for this league though.
