Harris the spanner is in charge for his first game with Cambridge tomorrow. I have a bad feeling in my bones
If we don't win against Cambridge I really do think the pressure is on Appleton. I think the most likely scenario today is that Charlton do scramble the three points, but in a plainly unconvincing manner as we did vs Cheltenham. On paper a win today puts us in a decent position, not far off the play-offs. But in reality we've still played too many home matches and our away form is not even average. Only a really thumping victory today - a 4 (or more) goal margin with Charlton clearly dominating proceedings from start to finish - will convince me that we still have even a slim chance of being in the play-off mix come May 2024. Any side with top 6 ambitions should be pulling Cambridge apart at home.
The pressure should be on Andy Scott. His recruitment record is abysmal. Jones, May and L. Watson aside, too many duds.
It's been reported that SE7 has no (or very low) water pressure at the moment. A problem that was first reported just after midday. If the Valley has water pressure issues might that not affect whether the match can go ahead? Health & Safety and all that... EDIT Since the game has kicked off I assume all is well at Roland's Gaff...
You called it in the opening post of the thread Elfs Our league position is surely as false as it has ever been. Still no back-to-back league wins this season. And even if we had won this game, playing like that it would have been wafer thin paper over giant cracks. 2-0 up in the dying minutes... We have 3 league clean sheets out of 19 games. A run of poor results that truly reflect the state CAFC is in must be just around the corner. We've performed poorly against frankly crap opposition for too long. Apples OUT Scott OUT SE7 OUT P*ss off the whole lot of you.
Bizarre substitutions. Campbell and May were both playing well, and why bring on a 17year old striker who's only played 5 minutes, with Louis Watson an unused sub. Cambridge deserved the draw but Mickey Apples threw it away.
Blimey, I just looked at the stats. Cambridge had more possession, and 22 shots to our 13. 10 corners to our 6. The numbers say they were unlucky not to beat us. Words fail me
Palarse lost , Scum lost and we drew I’m going to have a beer on the strength of that if you feel that why do you bother? , would you rather follow a top 6 team only ? I’ve supported/followed Charlton for the last 54 years regardless of league position or success- it gets easier the longer you’ve supported them !
Likewise have followed us for decades. Ups, downs, 1st division, 2nd division, PL, Championship, League 1. That’s not the issue. I’m just stating the truth, but that isn’t always welcomed on forums (as I’ve found out). BUT I won’t be lied to without highlighting those lies as best I can. And we HAVE been lied to from day 1 with this lot. I’ve said it so many times it’s becoming quite tedious tbh. We are going nowhere. You simply cannot have success running a club the way this one is being run by SE7 Partners and this SMT. I don’t even blame the owners (that I know of) (apart from one) as they didn’t make promises nor tell lies in the first place.
